Thank you to New York Restoration Project for inviting us to table at this year’s annual Paw Paw Fest! We had a blast handing out seeds and Paw Paw themed coloring sheets to folks who attended. To anyone who checked us out and participated, thank you so much! We love connecting with our local community and engaging folks with our mission :)

Folks really enjoyed our coloring sheets (drawn by Romeo Montero) and we’re thinking of offering free coloring sheets on our site for download. Would you use our free sheets?

When we say thank YOU to the community for showing up and making WHINFest a success - we mean it. THANK YOU! What better way to celebrate our legacy than with people who love uptown with all their hearts. Isn't also awesome to be doing this in the OLDEST farmhouse in Manhattan? Thank you to Dyckman Farmhouse Museum We had performances, cookies, raffles, food distribution (thank you Riverdale Neighborhood House !) hair braiding, resource exchange, raffles, tarot reading, writing, collage stations, reading, writing, drag, clowns, indigenous dance and music.

We are a small but mighty organization that cares so deeply about Washington Heights and Inwood. We are made BY the community for the community. ¡Desde ahora y hasta siempre! Thank you for believing in us!

As we prepare for WHINFest, we're reminiscing on our recipe card and composting workshop we hosted back in May, where neighbors were able to come by and make their own recipe cards to include in a WHIN Food Council recipe zine. Additionally, we led demos on home composting. Thank you for our friends at Recirculation, a project of Word Up for hosting us! 🌱

**REUPLOADED DUE TO NEW START TIME** WHIN Food Council is celebrating 10 years of Food Justice work uptown by throwing a party! Happy to be hosting at Dyckman Farmhouse Museum our very first ever bilingual variety show! We'll be having raffles, drag, puppetry, folk dance, writing and collage stations, tarot readings, activities, music, and so much more!! And this event is FAMILY FRIENDLY and very much Q***R FRIENDLY! We got a stacked lineup of majority local performers! This event is ticketed as proceeds will go towards our operational costs. Running a grassroots nonprofit is not easy! We have a select amount of tickets for those experiencing financial hardship, so email [email protected] to inquire for those. We're beyond grateful for the love our community has shown us for this event, and this event not only highlights our accomplishment, but also the diversity of things you can do in the Heights/Inwood. See you soon 🎊

Additionally, we are still taking submissions for performers, sponsors, and raffle items until 8/10. Interested? DM or email [email protected]

This year, our FSD (Farm Share Distribution) Program is operating through DWDC's Nuevo Amancer support program. Nuevo Amancer is a comprehensive domestic violence (DV) program created to empower latinas who are intimate partner violence (IPV) survivors to regain control of their lives. Those who seek support from this program get farm fresh produce sourced in New York State (via ) at no cost through the FSD program. We at WHIN Food Council are so honored to be supporting these women and to continue a legacy of community support with the Dominican Women's Development Center.
