Authors Guild Where Writers Become Authors Authors working together to ensure fair pay, protect copyright, and defend free speech.

The Authors Guild is a professional organization dedicated to supporting and protecting the writing life for all working and aspiring authors. We offer services that span the entire professional life of a writer, from guidance on the process of selling a book to agents and publishers, to advice and contract reviews, to resources on marketing, branding and promotion. Our advocacy efforts ensure that all authors have a voice within the publishing industry and on Capitol Hill, and that writing as a livelihood is protected for years to come.

We’ll discuss what’s at stake, including:

- Impersonation and fake social media accounts
- Copycat books that trade off your title, name, or cover
- Your logo or book cover distorted by AI artwork created by other people
- Digital galleys or other materials copied or stolen
- Your identity—meaning both your self-identity and your public-facing author brand

You’ll leave with practical insights and ideas for how to protect your intellectual property, position yourself for success against AI, and a checklist of actionable prevention and protection steps to put in place.
