Our last group of Take.7 artists are Rachael Lieblein-Jurbala ( ), Erica MacLean ( ),and Joan Liu ( )!
Rachael Lieblein-Jurbala (she/her) is a New York City-based dancer and choreographer, who makes dances to explore human inclination and positionality. Her work investigates sociological questions and aims to provoke conversation, in hopes that she, the performer, and the viewer may all find deeper self-awareness and subsequent potential for radical empathy.
Erica MacLean is a photographer, choreographer, director, and performer based in Brooklyn, NY. She has studied ballet and contemporary dance at Glendale Community College, Arizona State University, and The University of Utah. MacLean has presented work at Live Artists Platform, Arizona State University, Arizona Dance Festival, Center Dance Ensemble’s “American Voices”, The American College Dance Association, Beta Dance Festival, The University of Utah, Artists of Promise, Wax Works, and her self-produced concert, “Past Playgrounds”. MacLean is a recipient of an “Artists of Promise” choreographic award(Phoenix, Arizona) in which she placed first in district wide competition.
Joan Liu was trained in multiple genres before starting her performing career with Taipei Royal Ballet. She received her MS in Biology from NYU and MA in Dance Education through the collaborated program between NYU and ABT. Since moving to NYC, she’s performed with Gwen Rakotovao Company, Aries in Flight, American Liberty Ballet among others. Her choreography, including a full-length ballet, has been showcased at New York City Center, Dixon Place, Abrons Arts Center, Mark O’Donnell Theater…etc. Currently, she’s a faculty member at Ballet Arts at City Center and the Artistic Director of Axons Dance Theatre.
