As the fall season kicks into full swing, we are also heading into another budget year, meaning it is more important now than ever to understand what the intellectual and developmental disabilities (I/DD) system needs.

This year, we are calling for a 3.4% Targeted Inflationary Increase, a CareForce Wage Investment, and the restoration of the Healthcare Enhancement Program.

Together, these investments will help providers retain skilled staff, keep up with rising costs and health care expenses, and ensure that people with I/DD can continue to receive the services and supports they rely on.

You're invited to attend our hybrid Healthcare Accessibility Roundtable! Our panelists, Megan and Fati, will be sharing insight into their lived experiences navigating the healthcare system as women with physical disabilities.

After a moderated Q&A with Megan and Fati, we will open the floor to attendees to share their experiences and brainstorm potential solutions to inaccessible healthcare practices.

Healthcare professionals are encouraged to attend this roundtable either virtually or in-person. Healthcare professionals who attend will have the opportunity to take an accessibility pledge and work with PCCS and our Advocacy Leads to build an accessibility plan for their practice.

It is always important to be proactive and practice routine safety measures to prevent a fire emergency from happening at home.

Here are the FDNY's Top 5 Tips to prevent a fire emergency:

1. ALWAYS plug large household appliances directly into the wall outlet.

2. ALWAYS stand by your pan! Never leave your cooking unattended.

3. ALWAYS have working smoke and CO alarms on every floor and where you sleep.

4. ALWAYS have an escape plan and practice it.

5. ALWAYS charge and store lithium-ion batteries outside, where possible, and dispose of them properly.

WE’RE HIRING: HUMAN RESOURCES MANAGER

Person Centered Care Services (PCCS) is looking for an experienced Human Resources Manager to join our team in a full-time leadership role with a competitive salary and great benefits package.

The HR Manager will oversee the day-to-day operations of the Human Resources department, including recruitment and onboarding, staffing coordination, HRIS data and reporting, authorized driver compliance, employee engagement, and supervision of the HR team.

What we’re looking for:
• 5+ years of progressive HR experience
• 2+ years of leadership or supervisory experience
• Bachelor’s degree required
• Strong knowledge of federal and New York State employment laws
• Experience with HRIS systems and Microsoft Office
• Experience in nonprofit, healthcare, human services, or OPWDD-regulated environments preferred
• SHRM/PHR certification and a Master’s degree preferred

Salary: $64,350–$84,350
