We are sad to announce that we will be delaying Seed the South until our community can safely meet in person. After the success of our last event, we were planning to expand our footprint to bring in more small businesses and members of the community to participate. With the realization that COVID will be a long-term issue, we decided to delay our annual event in an effort to protect the health of our community and their families.

Our goal has always been to create a more equitable playing field in our startup community by hosting an event that provides a platform for all founders to speak and space for the entire community to meet. Unfortunately, the key to an effective local event relies on the ability to safely network in person.

We will keep you up-to-date as we begin planning again. Until then, go out of your way to check in on each other. Lift each other up. Support those who need a helping hand. Wear a mask. Vote.

Applications for the “Access to Capital Small Business Recovery” program are now available! If you own a local small business (25 employees or fewer) in the Charlotte city limits that has been impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic, visit www.fftc.org/CLTcitygrant to see if you qualify for a $10,000 or $25,000 award and to apply.

The program – launched by the City of Charlotte and Foundation For The Carolinas -- will distribute $30 million in federal CARES Act funding to local small businesses impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic.

With the goal to support struggling businesses as quickly and fairly as possible, applications are randomly selected each day for review – rather than on a first-come, first-served basis.
