The Zoological Lighting Institute ZLI is a US-based 501 (c)(3) Nonprofit, dedicated to wildlife conservation and animal welfare lighting challenges.

Based in the US in NJ, CA and NY, offices are being planned for Tokyo, London, Singapore, Jakarta and Hong Kong. The Zoological Lighting Institute™ provides programming and research support, dedicated to serving a mission of animal welfare and wildlife conservation. We believe that creative scientific approaches and advocacy are both necessary to address the challenges associated with artificial l

ighting and other modifications to the luminous environment. The Zoological Lighting Institute focuses upon photobiology and photo-ecology, raising awareness of the importance of light to exotic animal husbandry and to conservation initiatives alike.

It happens so often, all around the globe. We just changed the name of the Beached Campaign to ZLI’s Adapration Campaign to reflect the complexities of this global issue and the need for IDEA ethos to address it, but the grounding of whales is what pushed us to act in the first place. A sad part of life.
