We’re proud to announce our 2025 Presentation Print is by internationally acclaimed, Colombian-born artist José Antonio Suárez Londoño.
JASL follows a highly structured studio practice of reading and drawing daily. His dedication to drawing is seen through his experimental mark-marking and acute attention to detail. The artist uses the intimate space of a notebook, creating surrealist scenes that offer a look into the artist’s internal world. JASL’s delicate renderings of animals, botanicals, surrealist figures, stains, text, buildings, dancers, and hypnotizing geometries pull the viewer into a narrative of their own making.
Become a member of the Print Club of New York to get our limited edition print when it’s unveiled in October.

The PCNY visited SAGA https://sagaprints.com last month, where we saw many excellent works by diverse artists. Our intern, who attended with the club, was captivated by an incredible piece by artist Julie Lee Abraham.

Our intern marveled at the complexity of the design, the repetition of the lines, and the illusion of movement, which reminded her of Carlos Cruz-Diez’s 2017 lithograph Couleur Additive Gris.

Abraham’s print is part of a larger project titled Homage to the Alphabet, which includes multiple components—linocuts, woodcuts, combination woodcuts and paintings, as well as paintings based on the woodcuts. Julie has created a series of paintings derived from this particular print.
The print featuring the Y/Z design was made using woodcuts constructed from 30 cm square blocks and is one of the later works in the series. Julie noted that her interest in exploring letters may stem from her background as a literature student and teacher.

The Club visited the amazing exhibition at Gemini G.E.L. Gemini Gel https://joniweyl.com
The exhibition showcased the strength and variety of work created by women artists in collaboration with the workshop and represented a real "Who's Who" of female printmakers of the late 20th and 21st centuries.
While initially a male enterprise (early artists were also mostly men), the founders' wives also helped to nurture the new enterprise. One woman who engaged early with the workshop was Anni Albers, who was invited to create three editions at a time when her husband was also working on a project at Gemini G.E.L. Barbara Thomason, a lithographer, began her career at Gemini in 1973. In the 1980s, Vija Celmins, Dorothy Rockburne and Susan Rothenberg were invited to make editions. Elizabeth Murray arrived in 1992, and many more women followed.
