MAD About Dance Company Artistic Directot Michiyo Tanaka, received her M.F.A. from Lehman College (CUNY), where she taught dance and costume design. Ms.

She also directed, choreographed and costumed numerous productions for the Dance and Theatre Department. The Lehman Art Gallery and Arts and Humanities Department produced Numa, a performance piece conceived for a specific site, the lobby of architect Marcel Breuer’s 1969 building, which now serves as Lehman College’s Art Gallery. Tanaka is currently a faculty member in the Art Department at Bronx

Community College where she teaches art history, drawing and ceramics and also teaches dance and ceramics at College of Mount Saint Vincent. She received Presidential Development Grant from Bronx Community College to choreograph “Out of the Box,” a multi-media work in 2000.With her fine art and theatre background, Ms. Tanaka views the stage and dancers as a three-dimensional painting, continuing to explore the universal language of “art”.
