Zen & The Art of Filming Family Interviews: A Virtual Pre-Holiday Workshop!
As many of us are now squarely in the sandwich generation, where we're caring for aging parents while our kids are still at home, it's time to recognize that the oldest generation of our family will not be around forever. The holidays are a perfect time to capture them on camera, in their own words. In my workshop, I'll teach you how to conduct video interviews just using your smartphone- not only the practical tips (composition, audio, resolution, etc) but also the emotional/spiritual sacred container that I will help you build for your subjects. As a Zen practitioner and long-time documentary-style TV/film director, I offer tips on how to approach and create this space, what types of questions to ask your parents/grandparents to elicit authentic answers, and what to do with the footage one it's shot. The session will last 90 minutes, with time for Q&A.
