Late Post: We were able to complete this two room house in mid July for Hirman Sunar 57 years old and his wife Nanee Kameyni 58 years old in Dang. Nanee sells peanuts in the village after buying them fromthe wholesaler They grow maize and vegetable on their small patch of land they own which is hardly enough for 2 months. Husband and wife both are not in good health. Before Hirman worked as a labourer and is not able to do labour jobs anymore. Their old mud house always floods during the monsoons and leaks from the roof. We built their two room house from compressed stabilised mud blocks which cost us NRs. 350,000 or US$ 2,300/- and we know that there has been no flooding this monsoon as we built it higher than the previous house ground level. We need your support to help build a small house with two rooms for this couple before the monsoons start. They have leaks from the roof and when it rains heavily water enters their house and after survery of the house, we think this house will not last another monsoon. They are Hirman Sunar 57 years old and Nanee Kameyni 58 years old. The husband used to do labour job but now he is sick and physically cannot do labour job, the wife buys peanuts in wholesale and sells around the village which makes a little income. They have two sons who are having hard time to feed their own children. We have in so far built three houses in the past for people who cannot work anymore and need your help in building the fourth house. We have made a budget of NRs. 500,000 or US$ 3,300. 18 May, 2026:
Today GMIN distributed 30 bags in Namuna Primary School in Chhaprey village is Surkhet District. A big thank you to Sahana Maharjan for a donation of NRs. 12,600/- who also joined the GMIN Nepal board last year. Her contribution covered the cost and transportation of 18 bags at NRs. 700 a bag and the remaining bags were covered from the sale of donated clothes.

11 May, 2026 update: This is the first school that GMIN built in 2010 with four rooms and one was used as staff room and the others for Nursery to Grade 3. There were about 90 children attending until the school closed in 2017 due to some miscommunication between the board members of the school committee and all the children went to the Dhubichour school which is 2 kms away. We tried to intervene several times to restart this school as it would be easier for those who live closer to this school as some of them already used to walk upto half an hour and that would add another half hour, it gets difficult for parents to be able to take their child to school especially when it rains with the muddy roads and when it gets really hot in the summer. So after almost 9 years, at the request of the new school committee and the local ward office chief we redid the school. We had to replace all of the window and door frames, cement plaster most of the floors, put a boundary fence so that drunkards dont come at night and dirty the school and steal furniture, concreted part of the playground so that it is not muddy when it rains and children can still run around and play, we had the wall painted with children murals and we are also sponsoring a snack for the children until the government provides funds for the snack program. We have 8 children in the Nursery this year and every year a class will be added. The government has provided one teacher.
We are very happy to restart this school which we started 16 years ago and after completing 50 schools, we are back where we started. Our GMIN Vocational training center is just 10 minutes away. This was made possible by an anonymous local donation of Rs. 250,000 for this school, we spent about Rs.210,000 and the remaining will be used for the snacks program.

Dresses upcycled from donated clothes and saris which had some damage. These dresses are on sale in our thrift store in Buradabar village in Dang where we have out vocational training center and health post and will sell for Rs. 150 to 250.
