Election Day is November 3, and there are important deadlines to know before you cast your ballot.

• October 19: Change of address deadline
• October 24: Voter registration deadline
• October 24: Deadline to request a mail ballot online or by mail
• October 24–November 1: Early voting
• November 3: Election Day

What an incredible day at IAC’s Insurance Summit!

Last week, we brought together organizations and industry experts to discuss insurance options, finding the right coverage, and what it takes to protect your organization and the people who make your work possible.

Attendees walked away with valuable insights and strategies to consider as they evaluate coverage options for 2027.

A special shoutout to IAC's Financial Strategies Committee co-chairs Frank De Lucia, Executive Director of Independent Living Association, Inc., and A'isha Torrence, CFO of ADAPT Community Network, for collaborating with the IAC executive team to bring this event to life.

This past Saturday, we had the pleasure of welcoming longtime disability advocate Geraldo Rivera to the IAC office.

In 1972, Geraldo's reporting from inside Willowbrook State School brought national attention to the treatment of people with developmental disabilities and helped drive lasting reform in New York. Decades later, he remains a committed champion of the I/DD community.

Thank you, Geraldo, for spending the morning with IAC CEO Wini Schiff and Chief Operating Officer Mary Knox, and for sharing your perspective on the progress made and the work still ahead.

We're grateful to the team at Community Resources Staten Island, Inc. for the introduction and for making this visit possible.

As the fall season kicks into full swing, we are also heading into another budget year, meaning it is more important now than ever to understand what the intellectual and developmental disabilities (I/DD) system needs.

This year, we are calling for a 3.4% Targeted Inflationary Increase, a CareForce Wage Investment, and the restoration of the Healthcare Enhancement Program.

Together, these investments will help providers retain skilled staff, keep up with rising costs and health care expenses, and ensure that people with I/DD can continue to receive the services and supports they rely on.
