OUR MISSION
Mission Statement: The BIG LIVE motivates inner-city youth towards professional and personal achievements, thus raising their social status and improving their quality of life. WHAT WE DO
TBL builds towards the development and cultivation of the urban community by educating the youth on relevant statistics and moral decision making. If the youth are aware of the statistics through a
medium they can relate to, TBL can effectively reduce recidivism while encouraging youth achievement. Using credible messengers, TBL’s motivational seminars offer testimonials to high school students and provide a pragmatic outlook on present-day issues that face them through this pivotal period in their lives. TBL is actively developing a reality series which streams on the program’s website, THEBIGLIVE.COM. Documenting these motivational seminars, TBL acquires video footage in order to produce individual web-episodes, documenting students’ reactions and feedback and the positive impact this program has on the community. LOWDOWN ON LOCKDOWN
Lowdown on Lockdown (LDLD) tackles the issue of incarceration. The motivational speaker for this campaign is the epitome of positive youth development. Tyshawn Boyce is a young African American male from South Queens who was formerly incarcerated for 5 years. Tyshawn offers credible testimonials of his day-to-day activities while being incarcerated and the effects his incarceration had on family and friends. With Tyshawn, TBL has provided the LDLD campaign to middle high schools, high schools, GED Equivalency schools and has provided field assistance in several community programs. WEAR THE SHIRT
Sponsor a $30 pledge and receive a t-shirt that shows the community your commitment while promoting our organizational mission. Proceeds will allow us to continue funding our school campaigns for 2012-2013. TBL is a community initiative and it takes a village to raise a child; lets raise them right!
