2017 Joe’s Blackbook Scholarship Menswear Winner has a new project called

“It has been 4 years since my family and I last visited Yunyin Monastery in the mountains of Beilun, Ningbo. Abbot Jinghua is barely a decade older than me, with a profoundly wise andcaring soul. As a Buddhist monk he had visited and lived in many well-known monasteries around the globe, before he finally chose to settle at this little and unknown monastery called Yunyin (meaning “hidden among the clouds” in Chinese).

Abbot Jinghua and I share a strong interest in exploring different ways of aesthetic expressions in this modern and contemporary social context. 4 years ago I proposed to design and make functional, unique, and beautiful clothes for the Buddhists who live and work in Yunyin. This year I finally returned and fulfilled my promise.” - Zewei Hong

Statement from Juhee:

“As an artist and designer, I have always been intrigued by vulnerability. Despite our best efforts, we are all vulnerable in one way or another. I often draw my subjects as incomplete; fragments to be put together in the viewers mind, vulnerable and exposed.”

Deane aims to bring a fresh perspective to common things, and is most inspired by the people he meets and the new ideas he is exposed to through them. He works with experimental and conceptual fashion the most and hopes to continue to learn from others and share the knowledge he has gained to help carry the torch with his new generation.
