Today I hosted 8 veterans from Soldier On at the NJ Vietnam Veterans’ Memorial and Museum.

It turned out to be a beautiful afternoon to eat lunch outside together while enjoying the unexpected sunny weather.

The veterans were amazed by the scale of the massive memorial and the uniquely attached museum.

Acting as a volunteer tour guide, I walked the veterans through a chronological timeline of events from the perspective of the troops who were forward deployed “in country” and what was going on back at home in what was referred to as “the real world” during that same duration of time.

On the granite walls of the memorial are inscribed the names of more than 1,500 service-members from New Jersey who made the ultimate sacrifice while serving in the Vietnam War.

Big thanks to our partners at Texas Roadhouse for opening their doors once again during off hours to provide our veterans with a hearty barbecue lunch.

We spent the afternoon at Serenity Stables From Combat To Calm where the veterans participated in an equine session that consisted of horse grooming and meditation.

Today’s participants were residents of Soldier On, which is a not for profit organization that provides housing for at-risk veterans. They are veterans of the Army, Navy, Air Force and Marines with experience spanning from the Cold War to Post 9/11 Service.

Happy 250th Birthday to the U.S of A!

This year’s New York City Veterans Day Parade logo pays tribute to veterans of our nation’s military who served in every generation dating back to the Revolutionary War, when America was but a dream.

On behalf of the United War Veterans Council, it was an honor to once again come together with military representatives and our foreign allies to pay tribute to the thousands of soldiers, sailors, aircrew, Marines and merchant mariners who lost their lives in the Battle of the Atlantic during World War II.

Their service and sacrifice while defeating the U-boat menace turned the tide, and made possible the D-Day invasion, the liberation of Europe and ultimately, the Allied victory over the N***s.

Please join me in wishing my good friend Walter Rybarczik a Happy 105th Birthday!

Walter served as a navigator and a gunner on board B-24s in the Pacific Theater during WWII where he survived 35 missions.

It’s been an honor and pleasure having Walter attend the New York City Veterans Day Parade since 2017 where he’s laid a wreath at our opening ceremony representing WWII Veterans and our Greatest Generation.

We look forward to seeing Walter once again at this year’s parade as we celebrate our country’s 250th!

Sharing moments from the annual Vietnam Veterans Day wreath laying ceremony which was held at Vietnam Veterans Plaza in lower Manhattan.

The United War Veterans Council would like to thank everyone who came together to honor the over 1,700 New Yorkers who answered the call and gave their all for our great nation.

We salute our Vietnam Veterans, who fought bravely in an unpopular war and under nearly impossible circumstances.

You never received the heroes welcome that you deserved.

It is our hope, that by coming together each year, the veterans community can show our appreciation for your service and sacrifice.

To quote the motto of Vietnam Veterans of America - “Never Again will One Generation of Veterans Turn It’s Back on Another.”

Happy Vietnam Veterans Day.
