Congratulations Mini Maniac Participants and Thank You for coming and your patience! Thank you to our Volunteers and RaceAwesome Staff to make this race YOUR Race, a Mini Maniac Event with a Mini Maniac Finish Line and Banners. Please, Thank Corey Roberts of RaceAwesome who was very thoughtful to make it Your Event!!! He worked with Nassau County to be able to include a Youth Component before his race Nassau County swept the roads and filled pot holes to make it an Awesome Experience. Please reach out to Nassau County to Thank Them for being part of a community like no other.

When we decided not to move forward with the event at Smith Point, it was a heart breaker for myself, team, volunteers and you. You all worked hard to prepare for our race and for some of you it's the only race that you do yearly. We are honors that you trust us to provide an opportunity for your family, and we are grateful for the opportunity.

So as soon as we, wrapped cleaning up the race equipment. Corey suggested that we do something at Cedar Creek and fortunately he was able to do it. Nassau County could have said no.

Corey is very busy and produces some of the largest events in the Country. Next week 10/17 * 18 he is directing the Suffolk County Marathon and Freedom Fest https://runsignup.com/Race/NY/BAYSHORE/SuffolkCountyMarathonHalfMarathonand5K, please consider the 1k Kids Run, 5k, 10k, 1/2 Marathon or Full Marathon!

The following Saturday 10/24, he will be directing the Ironman 70.3 NY at Jones Beach. If you are interested in Paying it Forward, please consider volunteering at Lightning Warriors run aid station #1, and I can provide a special link for it.

💜 IT TAKES A COMMUNITY.

When weather forced us to cancel the September Mini Maniac at Smith Point, an incredible group of people and organizations stepped up to help give our young athletes another opportunity to race.
A huge thank you to Corey Roberts and Race Awesome for welcoming the Mini Maniac to the Cedar Creek Duathlon. Corey has supported the Lightning Warriors for more than 10 years with his time, equipment, and expertise.

Thank you to the Nassau County Parks Department for helping make Cedar Creek Park our new race location, and to USA Triathlon for working quickly with us to make the new event possible.
And thank you to our athletes, parents, volunteers, and entire Mini Maniac community for sticking with us. 💜

Now, we get to race again.

Thank you to Ironman Professionals Greg Harper, Jeremy Maclean, and Finn Große-Freese for coming down to our Lightning Warriors Practice before your race at Ironman 70.3 NY. The Warriors learned alot tips from the pool deck and from the Q&A session. We greatly appreciate your inspiring the next generation by Autographing some shirts and swimcaps. Even Coach Jodie signed a few things as she hosted the event. Special Thanks to Corey Roberts who is directing this race for us to have this amazing opportunity!

See you at Run Aid Station #1!

Corey Roberts of RaceAwesome is probably one of the busiest and generous person that we know. 2 weeks ago, while the forecast was somewhat gloomy, he still schlepped his equipment to Smith Point. He made multiple trips so that we can host our biggest fundraiser that helps support Our Mission of Triathlon for All Kids.

He donates this time and resources to help make our race as Awesome it is. 2 weekends ago, we laid down all barricades all set to have our Mini Maniacs on to the course. The next day, I looked at the sky and really thought, we could pull it off. The great thing is that I have a bunch of friends who gave me as much information as they could, and no one questioned or complained about the tough call to cancel the race, and I know many of you were disappointed.

It was the smart call, I wasn't too concerned about the swim, but unfortunately, there are about 100 kids that we are not sure about how they bike on dry pavement let alone wet ground. We are a developmental team supporting kids to be better than the day before.

Again, thanks to all the volunteers who helped set up. Then the next day in the dark, knocked down what we spent hours of building the day prior.

I was so bummed as we finalized tying down the barricades on this trailer, Corey puts his hands on my shoulders and looks me in the eyes and says, I have an idea, I need to make a few calls...

Corey does not have to do anything for our team and for the others who registered. So, we are excited to host the Mini Maniac at Cedar Creek Park along side of the Cedar Creek Duathlon on 10/10. It will be just as cool as Smith Point!

As I watched this video, and thinking about what Corey is thinking to manage this Year's Ironman NY. "What we all can control is our attitude."

Please Thank Corey and his team each time you see him!

Last Sunday's call was a tough one to make and the correct decision. As a multi-sport athlete, we are trained to adapt!

The Sun always rises on the Mini Maniac Youth Triathlon. We are excited that we have approval to offer a Race option to our Mini Maniac Athletes! The Lightning Warriors and our community are fortunate to have people who care and want to see our families and friends be part of something bigger! A huge Thanks to Corey Roberts of RaceAwesome, USA Triathlon, the Volunteers, Families, Friends, and Supporters!

Stay Tuned as we finalize the details. It will be Awesome! Thank You for your Patience!
