Day two of saw Latino nonprofit leaders from across the country join together for collaborative advocacy training and then bringing our skills and expertise to the halls of Congress.

After a morning of advocacy training and strategy sessions, leaders took to Capitol Hill to meet directly with Senators and Senate staff to elevate the urgent issues impacting our communities.

Today was a reminder that advocacy is not just policy... it’s people! It is community leaders showing up, speaking their lived experiences, and refusing to let Latino voices be ignored!

We closed the evening honoring Congresswoman Nydia Velazquez , a champion for our communities and a trailblazer whose leadership continues to inspire generations of advocates and organizers. Thank you Rep. Gil Cisneros and Andrea Salinas for joining us and celebrating the congresswoman.

The work continues tomorrow so make sure to stay connected and continue following us on all of our social media platforms!

Happy Pride Month!

This month, we celebrate the strength, joy, resilience, and contributions of LGBTQIA+ communities, especially our Latine voices, across the nation leaders, artists, advocates, and young people helping shape a more inclusive future.

Pride is an opportunity to celebrate as we reaffirm the importance of everyone being able to live openly, safely, and authentically. Pride month also serves as a reminder of the continued work needed to protect dignity, equity, and opportunity for all.

We are proud to stand with you this Pride Month and every month. 🧡

From September to October, immigration arrests in the Chicago area nearly tripled, rising from 760 to more than 2,000. Families lived in fear; communities stayed home, and entire neighborhoods were targeted.

Last week, Hispanic Federation hosted the “People’s Hearing on Immigration Enforcement” in Chicago alongside community leaders, advocates, attorneys, and residents who shared powerful testimony on the devastating impact of Operation Midway Blitz – including allegations of excessive force, racial profiling, trauma and intimidation targeting immigrant communities.

We are building a public record to support accountability, investigations, and policy change.

Thank you Chicago Sun-Times for your coverage and amplifying the voices of impacted communities.

Hundreds of job seekers, dozens of employers, and one powerful day of opportunity for the community! We know this job market is challenging and that is why this week, Hispanic Federation partnered with LaGuardia Community College's Center for Career & Professional Development and Casa de las Americas to host our annual Career Expo. This event connects community members with career pathways, professional development resources, and networking opportunities with top-tier employers from across New York City.

Attendees had the opportunity to receive professional headshots, resume support, and direct access to employers and service providers...all designed to help community members take the next steps towards a brighter and meaningful career!

We are so grateful to our partners, staff, volunteers, and all the job seekers who showed up ready to invest in their future!

This week, we gathered on the steps of City Hall for a press conference in recognition of Hepatitis Awareness Month, bringing together health advocates, elected officials, and community leaders to raise awareness about viral hepatitis and its disproportionate impact on communities of color, LGBTQ+, and other underserved populations.

This event uplifted community voices, challenges, stigma, and called for stronger, more equitable public health responses.

Thank you to Hep Free NYC, Lynn Schulman, Carl Michael Wilson, Virginia Maloney, NYSDOH - New York State Health Department, Housing Works Inc., and Empire Liver Foundation for standing with us and helping drive this critical conversation forward.

Congress is on the verge of giving ICE and CBP an extra $70 billion – with no guardrails or checks and balances. Our communities can’t afford that price tag or the damage of three more years of hostile, dragnet operations for years to come.

Act Now, tell Congress to Vote NO on Reconciliation 2.0! https://mstr.app/9facb18f-42ef-413b-9075-7ca743692fdc
