On behalf of the national leadership and the Hermanos of L*L, we are thrilled to celebrate our 40th anniversary today and honor the legacy of our Founding Fathers.

Throughout the past 40 years we have welcomed close to 3,000 members and founded over 70 chapters across the country - from New England, to the Mid-Atlantic, Florida, Georgia, Texas, Illinois, Indiana and California. We have been fortunate to have the support and encouragement of our peers, family and community.

While the past two years have been among the most mentally and emotionally challenging for all of us, it is our family, Hermandad and Latino/a/x Greek familia that have been the pillars sustaining us and encouraging us…and we thank you!

Thank you also for all the love and congratulations shared with us today. We appreciate all of you!

To our Friends and Interfraternity Community:

On December 15, 2021, our fraternity lost one of our beloved Hermanos, W***y A. Rivas.

W***y was a gentle soul with a giving heart. His love for his family, his community, and his fraternity was profound. We are deeply mourning the loss of our friend and Hermano. There are few words to express the pain and sorrow we feel.

W***y was one of our most active Hermanos, rising to various roles of leadership. His commitment to our organization was powerful. W***y’s leadership was recognized as an undergraduate, where he served as his chapter’s secretary, historian, and president. W***y’s determination to serve our fraternity at a national level grew as he held the roles of Regional Director, Vice President of our National Council and eventually being selected to lead our fraternity as National Council President. His love for our fraternity continued to expand and our hermandad rewarded him by electing W***y to serve on our Board of Directors where he eventually became our Chairman. W***y was special. He was a servant leader who aimed to support and befriend those with whom he connected. Throughout his years as an Hermano and leader W***y was also instrumental in cultivating and strengthening our relationship with the National Association of Latino Fraternal Organizations (NALFO) and partner organizations.

Although W***y’s life ended before we were ready, the time that W***y spent in our lives was memorable and full of joy. As Hermanos, his legacy will live within us, but as Hermanos, we have dedicated ourselves to support our Hermandad. His wife Maria and children are part of our Hermandad and we are here to step in to support his family as W***y has supported ours. Join us in Remembering and Honoring W***y Rivas.

With sadness in our hearts, we find solace in knowing that W***y is in a better place. In our lives, there have been few people as special as W***y. W***y was someone that we felt deeply connected to, and even though he is gone now, we will feel his presence Para Siempre.

We love you, W***y!

The Hermanos of La Unidad Latina wish all mothers and mother figures a wonderful and Happy Mother’s Day! We also honor mothers watching over us who continue to bless and guide us.

We are eternally grateful for you and thank you for touching our hearts and spirits. We love you! Thank you for your strength, patience, unconditional love, determination and resilience!

You can protect yourself and help prevent spreading the virus to others if you:

1) Wash your hands regularly for 20 seconds.
2) Cover your nose and mouth with a disposable tissue or flexed elbow when you cough or sneeze.
3) Avoid close contact with people.
4) Stay home and practice social distancing. Keep
5) Don't touch your eyes, nose, or mouth if your hands are not clean.

Do your part and keep us all safe.
