“Students aren’t having a real college experience. We shouldn’t pretend that they are … Some institutions in recent weeks, including MIT and Smith College, have converted all of their courses for the spring semester to mandatory pass/fail to address the extraordinary challenges being faced by their students and faculty. Other colleges should follow their lead. Changing all courses to pass/fail and adding an asterisk to everyone’s transcript would eliminate any problems with fairness while allowing students and faculty to focus on creating a meaningful learning experience in anxious times.”

Students aren’t having a real college experience. We shouldn’t pretend that they are.

A word about LIU 2019 SGA elections.

LIU elections are TODAY, 7 April 2019. Based on an evaluation of the candidates, their platforms, and the history of their campus contributions and activities. LIUSC lends it's unequivocal support to Vladimir Tobar.

Tobar is a man of the people, by the people and for the people. His school spirit and commitment to the betterment of LIU Brooklyn campus was demonstrated not only during the LIU LOCKOUT of 2016, but has continued throught the campus organizations he has founded, his collective mentality of bridging the divide between popular clubs and those that fly under the radar.

Tobar follows up these activities with his campaign platform that is centered on equalizing the opportunities on campus for all students.

(1) Reinstate Free Printing on Campus
(2) Extend library hours over the weekend
(3) Allow the use of our LIU dollars on our card to be used at local eateries outside campus, and open the opportunity to expand the dining options on campus.

While all of those points are well taken, the principal reason behind LIUSC's support of Tobar is his commitment to bringing to heel, the imbalanced, and unfair distribution of STUDENT FUNDS!

Every student is charged a "Student Activity Fee" on their bill each semester. SGA is in charge of distributing those funds in accordance with a system of checks and balances on their distribution.

Every distribution cycle, the same 4 organizations routinely get 10k into their account, whie the others are handed out the crumbs left over. One of these 4 organizations is on the opposing campaign.

What would LIU Brooklyn look like if the 55+ student organizations on campus were given an equal opportunity to grow and prosper?

Vote Vladimir Tobar to find out.

He will equalize the distribution of those funds such that distribution is commensurate with campus contributions. That what you do is given priority over who you know!

Raise the bar, vote Tobar!

**URGENT**
LIU-BROOKLYN STUDENTS,

Don't miss this opportunity to express your concerns to one of the potential new Deans of Conolly College:

TODAY, 19 October 2016, Another Dean Candidate, Dr. Victoria Rosner will be participating in an open forum session with students from 12:30 p.m. to 1:45 p.m. in the Jonas Board Room. Considering the disappointing character of the last candidate, it is imperative that students show up to these forums, ready to engage with their potential future dean.

This is indeed, an opportunity to ensure that your academic interest are kept at the forefront of policy decision and personnel turnover.
