Applications are now open for an original public artwork in Stuyvesant Square Park.
The Stuyvesant Park Neighborhood Association is pleased to announce its 2026 Sculpture Open Call and Grant, inviting artists to propose an original sculpture for exhibition in Stuyvesant Square Park in 2027.

This year’s theme is “Renewal and Respite Found in Nature,” reflecting the park’s enduring role as a place of restoration, connection, and refuge in the heart of New York City.

The selected artist will receive a $5,000 grant to create and install the work.
We especially welcome proposals that respond to Stuyvesant Square Park and the surrounding neighborhood, drawing inspiration from the park’s natural environment, history, community, and sense of place.

Public Art in Stuyvesant Square
SPNA’s sculpture program brings contemporary public art into the historic landscape of Stuyvesant Square, creating new encounters between artists, neighbors, visitors, and the park itself. The selected sculpture will continue that tradition in 2027—giving an artist the opportunity to create a work specifically for one of Manhattan’s distinctive neighborhood parks.

Pups on parade! Calling all paw-some pups and their humans! Get ready to unleash your dog’s inner superstar at the annual Stuyvesant Park Dog Run Halloween Costume Contest & Parade. 🐕🎃

Dress up your pup and join neighbors and four-legged friends for one of Stuyvesant Square Park’s favorite fall traditions. Costumes for humans are strongly encouraged, too!

🏆 Prizes will be awarded for: Best Doggie Costume, Best Parent & Pup Duo, and Best Group

Judging begins at 1:45 PM. Arrive early to register your BOO-tiful pup(s)!

Whether you’re competing for a prize or just coming to enjoy the parade, join us for an afternoon of costumes, community, and Halloween fun in the park. 👻🐕‍🦺🎃

🦇 Batty for Halloween!

Get into the Halloween spirit with local artist and puppet-maker Stella at a free bat puppet-making workshop in Stuyvesant Square Park. Join us for an afternoon of creativity in the park and make your own winged Halloween companion. All ages are welcome, no experience is necessary, and materials are provided.

🎶 Celebrate Hispanic Heritage Month in Stuyvesant Square

Spend Saturday afternoon in Stuyvesant Square with three and a half hours of live music celebrating Latin American rhythms and traditions.
First, the Afro-Latineers return with their vibrant blend of Afro-Latin rhythms and jazz. Then, at 4:00 p.m., Manhattan Street Samba keeps the music going with live Brazilian samba.
