Flor De Mayo x We Run Uptown
For 49 years, Flor de Mayo has been an Uptown institution. It’s where families celebrate birthdays, graduations, anniversaries, promotions, and countless Sunday dinners. It’s one of those rare New York places where the food is incredible, but the feeling of walking through the door is what keeps people coming back.
So when it came time to celebrate 13 years of We Run Uptown, there wasn’t a more fitting place to gather.
Most people probably expected a rooftop, a private club, or the newest restaurant in the city. Instead, we partnered with Nike Running to surprise our runners with a full buyout of Flor de Mayo.
This is the first time Flor de Mayo has
ever closed its doors for a brand dinner, and it’s something we’ll never take lightly. The theme of the evening was family, and there are not many places Uptown that embody that feeling quite like Flor.
From the moment everyone walked the red carpet, the energy felt different. The sangria kept flowing, dish after dish made its way to every table, conversations stretched across the room, and in true Flor de Mayo fashion, almost everyone left with a to-go box because there’s always more than enough to share.
And once dinner was over... nobody was ready to leave.
The tables were pushed aside, the music got louder, and the dining room became an uptown living room. Friends became family, old memories met new ones, and for a few hours it felt like all of 13 years of WRU was under one roof.
That’s what We Run Uptown has always been about.
Yes, we run together. But the miles have always been the excuse. The real goal has been building a community where people feel seen, welcomed, and at home.
Thank you Flor De Mayo Restaurant for opening your doors and allowing our community to celebrate such a meaningful milestone within a space that already means so much to New York City. It was an incredible honor to become part of Flor de Mayo’s story, even for just one night.
Thank you and José for helping us bring our vision to life.
