The Project for the Advancement of our Common Humanity (PACH) is an emerging think-and-do-tank, based at New York University, that is designed to engage researchers, policymakers, practitioners, activists, educators, artists, and journalists in a series of conversations focused on what we have learned from science and practice regarding what lies at the root of our crisis of connection and what we can do to create a more just and humane world.

Dear Humans:

As of today, my team at our think and do tank The Project for the Advancement of Our Common Humanity (pach.org) is starting the "What would your children say?" campaign (or your inner child if you don't have children). It's riffing off the question of "what would Jesus say/do?" After spending almost four decades listening to teenagers and young adults around the world and of many, many identities, nationalities, and religions, my team and I have come to the conclusion that they are our moral conscience and we need to let them lead the way so we can all have a future regardless of what party we voted for or didn't vote for or how much money we make or don't make or which religion we have or don't have or what identities we have or don't have.

We adults are lost morally and ethically because we are not listening to what they have been telling us for over a century regarding the cultural roots of our problems and how to work collectively and individually to solve our own problems and create a culture that better aligns with our nature and our needs. If we begin to listen to them, we will know how to get where we want to go --- all of us and not just some of us.

My op ed to the New York times that wasn't published about whether AI should be blamed for a su***de.

To the Editor:

Can A.I. be blamed for a teen's su***de? If you are looking for a thin answer, then yes because it can say things that encourage the person to do things that may be bad for their health and wellbeing. But if you want a thick answer, the answer is no for the same reason that we say a gun doesn't kill people, people kill people. The question should be why are young people turning to A.I. for human connection? The answer is simple and young people have been shouting this to us for almost a century. THEY WANT HUMAN CONNECTION. Until we, as adults, hear that we will continue to have soaring rates of depression, anxiety, loneliness, su***de, and mass violence. We can easily create a technology including one that involves AI to help humans connect with other humans. Our team is doing it right now with teenagers as they know what they want and they know how to do that natural human thing called human connection.

The letter from my (step) dad in the New York Times. Henry Erlich is his name and he is one of the three pioneers behind the development and application of PCR (or that test you took during covid that has also been used in the AIDs and Ebola crises and revolutionized forensics by proving the innocence of hundreds of thousands of those accused of crimes through DNA analysis). He just came out with a book on how PCR has also changed how we understand human evolution called "The Genetic Reconstruction of the Past." Here is a letter to the times underscoring the importance of a president who believes in science.

I share these articles that I am quoted in not to sell books (authors get only a few pennies for each book fyi) but to help push our social revolution that many of us on Facebook are already a part of. If you are not a part of it, join us!
