The Student Affiliates of School Psychology (SASP) at Long Island University, Brooklyn is run by the graduate students of the School Psychology program to inform members of current issues in the field of school psychology. SASP promotes participation in professional development activities to strengthen the discipline. Our members attend and present at state and national conferences and organize ou

r own professional development as well by offering workshops at LIU. We raise awareness about community issues and donate to charities. SASP encourages communication and collaboration among students and faculty. This occurs through the sharing of research interests, mentorship, and by providing a forum for ongoing program evaluation. Social activities are also planned to provide peer support and prevent burnout by having fun. Past events include annual participation in the NYC walk for Autism Speaks, domestic and sexual violence awareness campaigns (Clothesline Project & Take Back The Night), a holiday food drive, and SASP's first conference featuring Dr. Sam Goldstein. SASP members have presented at the annual conferences of the New York Association of School Psychologists (NYASP) and the National Association of School Psychologists (NASP). SASP members have also demonstrated leadership in the field by serving as student representatives to NYASP.
