September is Su***de Prevention Month a time to raise awareness, encourage honest conversations, and remind our youth and young adults that they are never alone.

The statistics show why this conversation matters:

• Su***de is the second-leading cause of death among young people ages 10–24.
• In 2023, 20% of U.S. high school students seriously considered attempting su***de.
• Approximately 9% reported attempting su***de during the previous year.
• An estimated 240,778 emergency-room visits for self-harm involved youth and young adults ages 10–24 in 2023.

Behind every statistic is a young person with a story, a family, dreams, and a future worth protecting. Let us check in, listen without judgment, recognize warning signs, and connect young people with the support they need.

To every young person who may be struggling: You matter. Your feelings matter. Your life matters and your story is not over.

Today, on International Overdose Awareness Day, we remember the young lives lost, support families affected by substance use, and recommit ourselves to ending the stigma that prevents too many people from seeking help.

The statistics are alarming: From 2020 to 2024, 75% of overdose deaths among youth ages 10–19 involved illegally manufactured fentanyl. Nearly half of teenagers are also unaware that counterfeit prescription pills may contain a lethal amount of fentanyl. One pill can change—or end a life.

At Life Equip Group, we believe prevention begins with honest conversations, education, trusted support, access to treatment, and ensuring that young people know they can ask for help without fear or shame. Parents, caregivers, educators, and community leaders must talk openly with youth about counterfeit pills, fentanyl, substance use, mental health, and overdose prevention.

Learn the signs of an overdose. Keep naloxone available. If someone is unresponsive or not breathing normally, call 911 immediately and administer naloxone if available.

Today, we remember. We support. We educate. We take action. Together, we can save lives and end the stigma. 💜

🌍 Adventure. Learning. Inspiration.

Life Equip Group had an incredible experience exploring the American Museum of Natural History! Our day was filled with discovery, education, adventure, and opportunities to learn beyond the classroom.

From exploring fascinating exhibits to learning more about history, science, culture, and the natural world, this experience encouraged our young people to remain curious, expand their knowledge, and discover new possibilities.

We explored. We learned. We grew—and created lasting memories along the way! 🌟

✨ SYEP LEGcares Capstone Spotlight: Jazya ✨

After six weeks of learning, growth, service, and professional development, our SYEP participants successfully completed their LEGcares Service Workforce Learning Program Capstone Presentations! 💼👏🏾

Throughout the program, participants strengthened their skills in résumé building, interviewing, communication, teamwork, leadership, networking, workplace readiness, and community service. Their capstone projects allowed them to reflect on their experiences, showcase their growth, and share how they plan to apply what they learned beyond the program.

Our next Capstone Spotlight is Jazya! 🌟

Throughout the program, Jazya consistently demonstrated professionalism, dependability, strong communication, and a willingness to learn. She worked well with others, remained engaged in program activities, and continued developing her leadership, planning, and organizational skills.

Jazya’s capstone presentation reflected her growth, the knowledge she gained, and her readiness to carry these valuable skills into future educational and professional opportunities.

We are incredibly proud of Jazya’s commitment, progress, and accomplishments. Completing the program is an important milestone—but it is only the beginning of what comes next!
