🪘 Joy, Culture & Community ❤️
Today’s music during Placita for our youngest students was more than a performance. It was a celebration of culture, connection, and joy.
Brother Mike always brings his entire heart to our community, and today, the sound of the congas helped create a beautiful bridge between music, culture, and our students. Rooted in Afro Cuban musical traditions, the congas have deep ties to the musical traditions of the Caribbean and Latin America, where rhythm, movement, and community are woven together.
As those drums filled our space, our students weren’t simply listening to music. They were experiencing a piece of a cultural tradition that has been carried across generations. 🪘🌎
And that is the power of community. We get to share our stories, our cultures, our passions, and our dreams with one another.
Brother Mike reminds our students that your passion can become your purpose, and your dreams can become your fuel. When children see adults bringing their whole hearts to the things they love, they begin to understand that their own dreams are worth pursuing, too.
Today, we danced. We listened. We celebrated. We connected.
And most importantly, we reminded our students that there is so much beauty in knowing where we come from and so much possibility in imagining where we can go. ❤️🪘🌎✨
