WYA Europe in the news 🇪🇺

Radio Bruno Brescia reports on the conclusion of the review of WYA Europe’s three Erasmus+ projects and the lifting of the suspension of related payments.

The outcome brings renewed attention to the importance of pluralism, freedom of expression, and the role of human dignity in European programs.

WYA remains committed to empowering young people through intercultural dialogue, democratic participation, and the promotion of human dignity.

WYA challenged the EACEA reviews and argued that EU grants must be governed by Treaties and the actual grant agreements—not by shifting political preferences or non-binding policy documents.

The EACEA admitted there was not sufficient grounds to justify their earlier decision and closed its reviews.

Thankfully, we had friends who stood with us in solidarity, such as Italian MEP Paulo Inselvini Paolo Inselvini

🇪🇺A Europe that values youth engagement must allow young people to participate without demanding ideological conformity.

Oh hey, remember when World Youth Alliance Europe was accused of failing to uphold “EU values”— because we said that life begins at conception, reproductive health education should be about way more than just abortion and contraception and that surrogacy is a violation of human dignity and human rights?

Well, after openDemocracy claimed credit for stripping WYA Europe of its funding and a full year of reviews, the story has now taken a very different turn.

Turns out the EACEA has closed the review procedures concerning all three Erasmus+ projects and lifted the suspension of related payments.

Most significantly, the Agency said that the alleged infringements identified during the review “WERE NOT ESTABLISHED to such an extent as to justify any further suspension.”

OR, as MEP Paolo Inselvini put it: “Victory!”

This is your Friday reminder that equality, fairness and pluralism matter. That WYA values ARE EU Values. And that the young people of WYA Europe not only belong but are a fundamental part of a thriving democracy in Europe, holding the people in institutions of power accountable.

Over 1,000 students. A shared focus on Human Dignity. 🌍

WYA Africa, in partnership with the Visionary Youth Circuit team, visited Mukaa Boys High School in Makueni County for the Youth Summit 2026.

The team engaged with over 1,000 students through discussions, music, workshops, and student presentations focused on human dignity.

The students had the opportunity to learn more about the mission and vision of the World Youth Alliance and to explore the idea that every human person has intrinsic, universal, and inalienable dignity.

We’re excited to see what’s next for these young scholars and future leaders. 🌍
