This Valentine’s Day, let’s remember that not all expressions of love are genuine. Shockingly, many trafficking victims are exploited by those closest to them - family members, friends, partners, or employers. Shockingly, the International Organization for Migration estimated in 2017 that “41% of child trafficking experiences [s*x and labor] are facilitated by family members or caregivers.”

Today, you can make a difference by spreading awareness. Share this post or the Polaris article with your friends and family to shed light on the issue of trafficking. By raising awareness about the signs of trafficking and its perpetrators, we can advocate for victims and protect those in vulnerable situations. Together, let's take action to safeguard all people - including vulnerable children - from exploitation and create a safer world for all.

January is National Human Trafficking Awareness Month, and we would like to take a moment to acknowledge the severity of trafficking as well as rally support to tackle this issue. By creating awareness, we can aid those who have been silenced and lack the agency to speak for themselves. Collectively, we have the responsibility to target inhumane issues and can do so through collective philanthropic investments.

To learn more about trafficking and how it affects children, as well as vetted nonprofits working to fight this horrendous issue, visit "Initiatives" on our SaltExchange website (https://lnkd.in/e8wXg6Sv) to view our philanthropic reports.

| Williamson Free School

In 1888, philanthropist Isaiah Williamson pledged $2.1 million to the Williamson Free School for Mechanical Trades, a trade school in Media, PA, that teaches young men employable skills at zero cost. The philanthropy-driven school continues to offer expense-free education without any assistance from public sources.

"It was seeing boys, ragged and barefooted... growing up with no education, no trade... that caused me to think of founding a school where every boy could be taught some trade free of expense."

Friends - Considering the devastating earthquakes in Turkey and Syria which has now claimed over 5,000 lives and has injured so many more, SaltExchange is pulling together a list of trusted nonprofits who are providing important assistance on the ground. The nonprofits are being recommended by trusted philanthropists in our network. The list will be sent out in the next few days if not sooner!

Lets financially support organizations that are getting resources to those in need!

As Professor Lucy Easthope, UK Disaster Recovery Expert, reminds us, “…please, please don’t organise collections of “stuff” for communities after the quakes. Donate cash. If you have stuff to give away, sell it and donate the cash ” Twitter
