On June 17th, 2017 the young men and women of the MSTRS Connect Mentoring Group will host a summertime charity event. This event will see the members distribute care packages and home cooked meals to any person in need in the Harlem community. Please consider helping by donating NEW socks and other toiletries to 240 west 123rd Street, New York, NY. We will be open to receiving any and all donations up until June 7th, 2017. The young men and women of the Measure of a [wo]man Culture Change Project (MSTRS) will be hosting a day of service. On June 7th and June 17th, 2017 we will distribute care packages to residents of Harlem. These care packages will include socks and an assortment of toiletries. Are you interested in assisting us? Please consider donating NEW socks and toiletries. We have drop off locations on the east side of Harlem, bushwick area of Brooklyn, and can arrange pick up.

For the first time, our summer leadership academy, which begins in June, will host both young men and women. We are seeking mentors interested in helping these budding professionals through the Academy. Our participants are embarking on new careers and this leadership academy is being designed to elevate their professionalism, sense of self, and how to excel and offer a presence in the work place. And we need YOU, both men and women to offer new perspectives and insights. You can volunteer for just a day or the entire Academy. Your presence is what will make a difference. This November, we will host its newly reformatted Measure of a Man: Barbershop series, a series that brings together males of different backgrounds, cultures, and generations, to discuss topics pertinent to today's man. These conversations bring to the forefront the barber, who by trade is a architect of masculine identity and the barbershop which stands as a staple of manhood and masculine behavior. For our November session, we are looking for two men who are interested in helping lead the discussion. Please DM me for further details if interested.

Let's stop street harassment

Through our Measure of a Man Culture Change project, we have dedicated time and effort into helping men and boys become more progressive and useful in their service to their communities and relationships. This year, we have seen a string of slashing of women and more and more seen that street harassment has become detrimental to the lives and well being of women.

This cannot continue to go on. Lives shouldn’t be loss because of rejection. The HomeBound Leadership Institute will now begin offering service and resources to help others who are interested in fighting against women being killed for rejecting street harassment.

This initiative will go into effect in the latter portion of February as we continue to find ways of intervention. We are calling all men interested in participating, to contact us. Lets continue to act as protectors and continue to reimagine masculinity and manhood, because this isn’t it.

So much in store for the HomeBound Leadership Institute! 2015 saw us expand to licensing our curricula as a means of reaching and developing more young people. 2016 will see the return of the Measure of a Man tour, visiting 10 cities, 10 universities, 10 high schools in the United States. We want to serve over 1000 men and boys this new year. Thank you for all of your support. Continue to watch us grow and continue to develop young men in ways that are progressive. Happy new year
