Ilona Melyokhin Memory Fund

Ilona Melyokhin Memory Fund This page is to support the Ilona Melyokhin Memorial Fund. We will fundraise, raise awareness, and do everything in our power for this cause.

Ilona Melyokhin was an incredible person who lost her life too soon. She was, first and foremost, a loving daughter, a caring friend, and an amazing overall person. She provided so much kindness and care to the people around her within her short life, and in her memory, we want to continue doing the same for others. Eating Disorders have the highest mortality rate of any mental illnesses. Through

our events and generous efforts, we plan to fundraise, along with outreach and education our community and the public about eating disorders and their destructive consequences on the families affected by them. With your helping hand, we believe that we can truly make a difference for families that really need all the help they can get. Remember, you don't have to give money for kindness. Get involved with us and lend a helping hand, and we promise you will have the grand reward of saving a young life. Upcoming Events (All details to follow):

February: Eating Disorder Awareness Month

February 7th: Glam Bazaar

February 21st-27th: Awareness Week

February 22nd: Mirrorless Monday (Trust Me, You Look Great)

Truth #1: Many people with eating disorders look healthy but may be extremely ill.

The truth is that you can’t tell by looking! Even experienced professionals often miss the signs! Families and friends are often the first to notice the early changes in behavior or actions. What do you notice?

Take action and follow up! Ask the questions! seek help! See the science behind this here: https://pmc.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/articles/PMC5711426/

Research shows that young people living with eating disorders can experience delayed or varied onset of puberty.

In this blog, Becky shares her story of living with anorexia nervosa and experiencing delayed puberty, and the ways this caused her to feel isolated and disconnected from her peers.

She emphasises the value of open conversations between other people experiencing delayed puberty and an eating disorder, and how these can challenge a comparison mindset and remind someone they're not alone in their experience. 🦋
