Johanna LjungQvist- Brinson
Artistic Director/ Choreographer
Born in Boras, Sweden, Johanna LjungQvist-Brinson started dancing at the age of three at The Institute of Ballet in Boras. She later obtained her BFA degree in Dance Education and Dance Pedagogy from The University of Dance and Circus
(DOCH), in Stockholm, Sweden. Since then Johanna has been teaching, performing and choreographing for over 20 years through Europe and the US. She was a former teacher at the Académie Internationale de la Danse in Paris. In 2008 she founded her school: Delaware Dancers, a nonprofit organization (with a 501 C 3 Status), where she is the current director, teacher and choreographer. In May of 2013 Johanna founded her NYC Based Hanna Q Dance Company. That same year she obtained the Pennsylvania Council on the Arts Grant, which was utilized to create a new collaboration between musicians and the Company. Since then Hanna Q Dance Company has been performing in the tri-state area. Johanna draws from nature and uses its elements to compose dynamic narratives. While she enjoys collaborating with composers and musicians ,Johanna has written original music for Hanna Q Dance Company as well. In August 2013 she performed a full lenght evening with live music at Harmony Presents , Hawley,PA. January 25th 2014,they presented a full length production "Vignettes" at The Actors Fund Arts Center , Brooklyn,NY.In May 2014 she presented another "Dance & Live Music performance" an outdoor event in PA . January 2015 Johanna collaborated with The Delaware Valley High School Orchestra in a Dance & Music Performance, where she also wrote music to her choreography, that Hanna Q Dance Company performed. Hanna Q Dance Company performed in Manhattan,NY. February 6,7,8,9th 2015 at The West End Theater, Soaking WET Series( curated by David Parker and Jeff Kazin ,The Bang Group). March 18th 2015 ,The DIXON PLACE presented Hanna Q Dance Company "REALMS" in their Split Bill Program.New York Live Arts, Full length evening Studio Performance, September 2015. Dance Company has been performing
original works. The Swedish born and
raised Artistic Director and
Choreographer, Johanna LjungQvist-Brinson, draws inspiration from the
forces of nature and uses its elements to
create dynamic narratives through
movement. The choreography is comprised
of technically rigorous movement,
derived from Johanna’s background in
Dunham technique, as well as
partnering at once intricately acrobatic
and viscerally human. The dancers
express bursts of passion and
athleticism, sweeping the audience into
a different world full of emotions. The company has performed in
venues mostly in NYC, including
Dixon Place, Jazz at Lincoln Center,
Brooklyn Dance Festival,
TADA!Theater, The Actors Fund Arts
Center, Green Space, New York Live
Arts, The Triskelion Arts, and West
End Theater.
