“I can still love you. I can still help you.”

For Nicole, Program Manager at BEAT AIDS, these aren't just words. They're a promise she makes to every client, no matter what they're carrying when they walk through the door.

Through our funding, BEAT AIDS are receiving trauma-informed care training from the UH Graduate College of Social Work, strengthening how the team shows up for each client’s needs.

When communities are heard, trust is built, stigma breaks down, and care becomes more accessible and effective.

By working with partners around the world, like the UH Graduate College of Social Work, we’re building solutions shaped by the people they’re meant to serve, bringing us closer to ending AIDS.

Trauma shapes how – and whether – people access care.

That’s why trauma-informed care is essential.

We partnered with the UH Graduate College of Social Work to fund a trauma-informed care curriculum helping strengthen HIV services so they are safer, more inclusive and responsive to people’s needs.

Because we won’t make progress if the people who need care most still face barriers.

Columbus, one of the Elton John AIDS Foundation's Portfolio Leads recently traveled to Nigeria to meet with partners, including the team behind a new project we’re funding with the Justice Bridge Foundation.

This comes at a critical moment.

Across West Africa, anti-LGBTQ+ laws and rhetoric are intensifying, most recently in Senegal. These laws don’t just restrict rights. They drive people away from healthcare and put lives at risk.

So we’re backing a bold, region-wide effort to change this. The goal?

• Train 70+ lawyers across Nigeria, Ghana, Cameroon and Sierra Leone
• Deliver legal support for LGBTQ+ people and people living with HIV
• Embed them within community organizations
• Connect them through a regional legal network

This is about more than legal training. This is about making justice real, accessible and impossible to ignore.

Because everyone deserves access to healthcare without fear.

Statement on U.S. House Appropriations advancing funding for the fight against AIDS:

We applaud the U.S. House Appropriations Committee for providing billions of dollars in 2027 for the fight against AIDS around the world. This funding will help countries gradually take over and run their own HIV programs, while also supporting the important work of Global Fund to Fight AIDS, TB and Malaria.

As the process moves forward in the Senate, we hope that additional resources can be found to ensure the U.S. pledge to the Global Fund of $4.6 billion over three years is reached on an annual basis.

We also hope immediate ‘bridge’ funding will be sent to the front lines to help keep people alive while new agreements with partner countries are finalized.

11 years ago, testing for HIV got a whole lot easier for people in the UK.

The first legal HIV self-test kits went on sale in England, Scotland and Wales, putting the power of knowing in your hands.

No doctors. No labs. No waiting rooms.

Over a decade on, self-testing kits are still breaking down barriers. One test at a time.

Punishment doesn’t stop HIV. Compassion does.

People who inject drugs are 14 times more likely to acquire HIV.

Tom, one of our portfolio leads, shares how we invest in what works to reach the people with the care, support and services they need.

People deserve care, not judgement.

Two artists. Two foundations. One shared mission.

Together, we’ve raised $350,000 to support HIV care worldwide, keeping clinics open and helping connect people to testing, treatment and prevention.

Grateful for this community. Thank you ❤️
