We kicked off Earth Week on Govenors Island with all the grantees of the NYCHA Climate Action Award! We will be using our grant to amplify the voices of residents in Carey Gardens Houses! Thank you to Public Housing Community Fund, Alex Zablocki has been a gem to us! His passion & dedication to supporting public housing investments is crucial. Tonya Gayle and Green City Force have been instrumental in supporting environmental services in public housing for quite some time. Together, we can all make a difference to improve the health of the planet! Thank you to New York Climate Exchange & Lower Manhattan Culture Center for your hospitality!!

It’s Earth Week and we would be remiss not to acknowledge the work does to support climate justice initiatives in public housing. Alex has truly been a gem to us. We are inaugural winners of their NYCHA Climate Action Award. Each year this award presents a unique opportunity for Carey Gardens residents to take action against climate injustices! We encourage everyone to take advantage of the resources offered by the fund. As we pay respect to our brother Natural, who has ascended, and is now apart of our ancestors, as well as all the lives we loss too soon, we want to remind you to that life is precious just like planet earth and both require love. 🌍❤️

Our Teen Self Love: Valentine’s Day Party was a success! Thank you, to our sponsors at Sephora, Footprints Cafe, Beauty Influencer- Melodie Perez, Brooklyn Public Library- Coney Island Branch, and Volunteers; without your continued support we wouldn’t be able to do the work we do, to build confidence and self esteem in young women, through our Beauty Queen Project. Big shout out to our participants from Rachel Carson School of Costal Studies; these young women are absolutely incredible and headed on the right path for leadership, and success. Our Beauty Queen Project supports self-development, career readiness, mental health stability, and social community in young women impacted by trauma, illness and violence.

Curating a safe space for teens to open up, so that we can pour power and purpose into them. On this decennial milestone anniversary, we commemorate our founders grandmother, Mrs. Carol Lee Cephas! This organization was built for her esteem in 2016, and today marks what would have been her 84th birthday, and a decade since she has joined the ancestors. Her granddaughter established this organization 9 years ago to honor her legacy of intangible, invaluable life lessons, personal values, community impact, and acts of service to her family, friends, and strangers. Mrs. Carol Lee Cephas left lasting impressions on the people who crossed her path. Our mission today, continues to inspire the next generation of leaders, and promote the values of Mrs. Carol Lee Cephas. Join us in celebrating her legacy!
