A week-long series of actions, discussions, and political education across the nation, held in partnership with people, leaders, and organizations honoring Black liberation.

This month, we are partnering with the Texas Black Migrant Ecosystem again to expand the conversation around -> "What does it mean to Protect Black Migrants?"

This conversation will be organized by BAJI’s Houston Organizer Bonnie Okoth, Salemu Alimasi with Church World Service, and Tiffany McAllister Davis with National Domestic Workers Alliance.

This discussion has the potential to bring together community members to raise awareness and mobilize nationwide efforts to dismantle anti-Black racism in the US. Resources will be available to help you understand the importance of organizing.

BAJI’s visit to Minnesota comes at a critical moment, as the Bodysnatchers’ presence across the state continues to impact Black immigrant communities. The fight for Black migrant justice is more urgent than ever!

BAJI’s Executive Director Nana Gyamfi (she/her) is a featured speaker at the Black Collective Foundation MN’s “Threading Stories of Black Migration.”

Tuesday, October 20th from 12–2:30PM CT
The Cedar Cultural Center, 416 Cedar Ave, Minneapolis, Mn

The event brings together historians, organizers, and writers to explore the intersections of Black migration, racial justice, workers rights, and democracy! The event will address the stark funding inequities facing immigrant and refugee organizations, which receive just 1.8% of all U.S. foundation giving, with Black migrant organizations receiving even less.

🎬 Check it out! Tommy Franklin, from BAJI’s communications’ team, is bringing his first feature film You Don’t Know My Name for its first New York screening this Friday, October 16 at 3:40 PM at Regal Union Square.

In 1984, Tommy was snatched from their mother’s arms at birth while she was incarcerated. Growing up, Tommy imagined who his birth mother might be. When the opportunity to finally learn the truth arrives, fear and doubt emerge as he navigates an emotional waiting game.

You Don’t Know My Name follows Tommy’s journey to uncover the truth about his past. This film speaks to issues impacting our families: reproductive justice, incarceration and family separation.

Myth vs Reality!

Myth: There is nothing everyday people can do to stop immigration enforcement.
Reality: Collective pressure creates change. ICE depends on partnerships with corporations, contractors, and institutions.

Our communities have the power to disrupt relationships between ICE’s partnerships with businesses!

TEXAS: Know your rights. Know where to get support.

Texas Senate Bill 4 (SB 4) gives state and local authorities new powers to arrest and prosecute people under state immigration law — putting Black, Brown, and immigrant communities at greater risk of racial profiling, detention, and criminalization.

And the legal fight over SB 4 isn’t over.

For this week’s Know Your Rights, we’re breaking down:
➡️What SB 4 does
➡️The new state immigration offenses it created
➡️What it means for Black and Brown immigrant communities
➡️The ongoing legal challenges

What you need to know to protect yourself and your community.

Myth vs Reality!

Myth: Hotels have nothing to do with immigration enforcement.
Reality: Hotels are part of ICE’s operational infrastructure. ICE and CBP travel across the country to conduct enforcement operations, training, meetings, and other activities.

Swipe to learn how hotels like Hilton remain complacent in providing critical spaces to Bodysnatchers that allow these kidnappings in our communities to happen.
