South Asian Womxn's Creative Collective - SAWCC SAWCC is dedicated to the advancement, visibility, and development of emerging and established South

The South Asian Womxn’s Creative Collective (SAWCC) has served South Asian womxn since 1997 and has earned a reputation for showcasing cutting-edge work that deals intelligently with issues of gender and cultural representation. SAWCC'S mission is the advancement, visibility, and development of emerging and established South Asian and Indo-Caribbean womxn, cis and trans women, trans men, gender non-binary or non-conforming, and femme-presenting artists and creative professionals by providing a physical and virtual space to profile their creative and intellectual work across disciplines. As a collective, we do not support any sentiments, governments, media, or narratives that further harmful agendas against marginalized groups, may it be Hindu nationalism, casteism, Brahmanism and anti-Dalitism; as well as anti-Black—and more broadly, anti-BIPOC—classist, ableist, colorist, and anti-LGBTQIA+ ideologies. Should you have any questions or concerns, please message us on our page or email us [email protected]. On behalf of SAWCC’s board, thank you for being part of the SAWCC community.

Join SAWCC on October 3 at 1 PM at the Elizabeth Foundation for the Arts Study Center for Weight of Small Things: A Watercolor Still Life Workshop led by Priyam Jancosko. This workshop is rooted in South Asian themes of migration, memory, and the objects that quietly carry our histories across borders and generations. It is open to anyone who feels a connection to those themes, through their own background, their family, or simply their curiosity.

No painting experience needed. Materials are provided. The conversation is as much the point as the work.

These programs are supported, in part, by public funds from the New York City Department of Cultural Affairs, in partnership with the City Council.

RSVP link in bio! Your donation helps SAWCC plan more community programming 🌼

Over a few spring days in New Orleans, McClean reflects on his Trinidadian roots and the anti-colonial spirit that drives his art. We can't wait to see this film, all the films, this Friday!

Direction & Cinematography: Anumeha (Anumeha)
Starring: Stuart McClean (stuartmccleanfinearts)

Check out this silly, heartwarming, and tender short this Friday!

Anjali is a Maryland based 2D animator and director who's a lover of all the little things in life and aims to showcase real, heartfelt, bittersweet moments through her work.
