Bronx Children's Museum

Bronx Children's Museum BxCM is a new kind of multicultural, Bronx-inspired children’s museum operating with & without walls.

Bronx Children’s Museum will provide interactive query-based programs both inside and outside the Museum’s walls that promote literacy, the arts, science, cultural enrichment, greening and sustainability. The Museum will collaborate with, complement and support community-based organizations, shelters, foster care and day care programs and schools, as well as cultural and recreational institutions

in the Bronx. Our new art bus transports and operates traveling exhibits. The latest exhibit is Waters On the Go, an interactive diorama of the Bronx River and Orchard Beach.

We were honored to welcome Diya Vij, Commissioner of the NYC Department of Cultural Affairs, to the Bronx Children’s Museum for a visit and conversation about the vital role cultural institutions play in the lives of New York City’s children, families, and communities.

Commissioner Vij oversees cultural funding for more than 1,000 nonprofit arts and cultural organizations across all five boroughs and helps shape cultural policy for the City of New York.

Her visit was also an important reminder that access to arts, culture, creativity, and learning must extend across every borough and every community. In the Bronx, institutions like Bronx Children’s Museum serve as more than cultural destinations—we are gathering places, learning spaces, and community resources that ensure Bronx children and families can experience high-quality arts and cultural programming right here in their own borough.

We are grateful to Commissioner Vij for spending time with our team, learning more about our work, and recognizing the importance of continued investment in cultural institutions that serve communities throughout the Bronx and across New York City.

Thank you, Commissioner Vij, for visiting BxCM and for helping champion a vibrant, accessible, and equitable cultural landscape for all New Yorkers.

Healthy habits start young—and learning about nutrition can be just as fun as play! 🍎🥕🌽

This week, we were proud to partner with , an organization dedicated to empowering children and families with the knowledge and skills to make healthy food choices through hands-on nutrition education and community engagement.

Guests explored colorful, interactive activities that introduced healthy foods, encouraged curiosity about nutrition, and helped build lifelong habits for wellness. By making nutrition education engaging and accessible, the Food Foundations Project is helping children develop a positive relationship with food while inspiring healthier communities.

Thank you to the Food Foundations Project for bringing your energy and expertise to the Bronx Children's Museum. We look forward to continuing to create experiences that help children learn, grow, and thrive—one healthy choice at a time.

Empowering the next generation of Bronx leaders! ✨

A huge thank you to The Pinkerton Foundation for their generous support of our internship program. Because of their commitment to youth development, we are able to provide young people with vital workforce development, hands-on mentorship, and real-world leadership skills right here at the museum.

Our interns bring so much energy, passion, and talent to our space, and we couldn’t be prouder to watch them grow!

Thank you, Pinkerton Foundation, for investing in our youth and our community!

Behind every creative discovery at the BxCM is a community of generous supporters. 🎨🌱

We want to extend our deepest thanks to the Wolfkahn Foundation. Their vital support funds afterschool programming that bridges the gap between the natural environment and modern art, allowing our children to think critically, create freely, and connect deeply with the world around them.

Thank you for investing in the future of our young creators! 🌟

This past weekend, we continued celebrating # AAPINH Month with a special edition of *Cooking by the Book*! 🍵🌸
We laughed, listened, and learned together as our incredible friends from hosted a beautiful, interactive tea party for our little ones and their families.
The highlight of the day? A truly magical reading of *”Luli and the Language of Tea”* with the book’s wonderfully talented illustrator, ! Just like the children in the story, our young visitors discovered how a simple cup of tea can bridge languages, connect hearts, and turn a room full of strangers into a circle of friends.
Seeing the smiles, the shared stories, and the creativity flowing through our space reminded us how beautiful our Bronx community truly is. We are so grateful to everyone who joined us to celebrate the rich cultural traditions that connect us all. 🎨❤️
Take a peek at some of our favorite moments from the day!

Spent the morning with P.S. 47 and celebrating their Lenape learning projects, and the students did not miss a beat.

It was great to see our young people have the chance to learn by creating and understanding our history.

The Bronx is full of brilliant kids. Our job is to keep making sure they continue having access to spaces that help that brilliance grow. I’m proud to keep funding this program and every year see each class enjoy it more and more at P.S. 47!
