This week, Civic Hall hosted a New York Tech Alliance meetup, bringing together founders, investors, + the community to talk climate and technology.

The night started with a look at the latest climate data and where we stand globally, followed by seven company demos and a conversation with three investors about where they’re seeing opportunity in climate tech.

And then, plenty of time for founders, funders, and technologists to meet, trade ideas, and make connections.

A great night at Civic Hall — and a look at some of the tech, companies, and people working on what comes next.

Big news: we’re teaming up with Verizon to launch Civic Hall’s AI Founder Program. 🚀

This fall, 20 NY high school students will spend four weeks going from problem → idea → prototype → pitch, using AI at every step.

They’ll identify a challenge they care about. Use AI to research and pressure-test it. Turn insights into a business idea. Build a working prototype. Then pitch what they’ve built.

And they’ll be building for New York + tackling challenges they see in their own communities across housing, transportation, education, public health, civic life, and more.

It all culminates in the Verizon AI Founder Showcase, where teams will demo and pitch their products live to mentors, technologists, and New York’s innovation community. The winning team will then take the stage at the NY Tech Alliance’s final event of 2026, hosted with Columbia Business School.

The goal is for young people to begin seeing themselves as the founders, technologists, and problem-solvers shaping what comes next. That’s what Civic Hall is here for.

We had the best time at our Summer STEM & Innovation Camp! 💡

Over the past month, our middle + high school campers immersed themselves in the world of tech and AI. Across coding, robotics, game design, and digital media, they built the skills and confidence to explore future careers in STEM, with our high school students wrapping up the summer by presenting their capstone projects.

Too many young people still face barriers to STEM education. That's why we're creating programs that expand access to these career pathways while connecting students with mentors, peers, and New York's vibrant tech community.

Thank you to everyone who made this program such a success and to our incredible campers for bringing their curiosity, creativity, and enthusiasm every day. See you next summer!

One more week of Civic Hall Summer Camp!

What an incredible summer it’s been across our middle + high school programs. Over the past few weeks, campers have explored tech, developed new skills, tackled hands-on projects, and learned alongside mentors and guest speakers from across the NY tech community.

Now, our high school students are heading into their final week, putting everything they’ve learned into practice as they prepare their capstone projects.

We can’t wait to see how they finish out the summer.

AI is rapidly changing how we learn and work. Civic Hall's Summer STEM & Innovation Camp is helping NYC students get hands-on with the tools driving that change.

By giving more young NYers access to AI tools, mentors, and hands-on learning, we're helping prepare them for a workforce where AI fluency will increasingly matter. For our high school cohort, AI is a core focus -- from prompt engineering and natural language processing (NLP) to no-code automation, AI-powered creation, all culminating in a capstone projects.

It has been an incredible first few weeks watching campers experiment + collaborate and we're excited to keep the momentum going as we help equip the next generation with the skills and confidence to succeed in the AI era.

Happy from all of us!

The future of health starts with us, and it starts with AI.

Today, the inaugural Civic Health Forum convened at Civic Hall in Union Square, bringing together investors, AI leaders, healthcare providers, payors, policymakers, and founders around a shared challenge: How do we keep people healthy before they enter the healthcare system?

The conversation focused on upstream care—the difficult but essential work of preventing health challenges before they become healthcare interventions. Despite its potential to improve outcomes and reduce costs, upstream health innovation remains one of the most undercapitalized areas in healthcare.

Today was about changing that: connecting innovators, investors, and decision-makers to accelerate solutions that help people stay healthy in the first place.

Thank you to all who joined us to help shape the future of civic health.
