The International Resource Network (IRN)

The International Resource Network (IRN) The International Resource Network (IRN) is a global network of researchers, activists, artists, and teachers sharing knowledge about diverse sexualities.

We are organized through a structure of regional networks in Africa, Asia/the Pacific, the Caribbean, Latin America, the Middle East, and North America. The IRN website includes resources, information about regional projects, serves as an online archive, and connects people who do work on diverse sexualities around the world. The IRN supports local coordinators and regional boards who facilitate c

ommunication and special programs among community leaders, activists, and researchers within regions. The IRN network and regional projects are made possible by the Ford Foundation (2007-2011) as an initiative of The Center for Le***an and Gay Studies (CLAGS) at the City University of New York. The The Center for Le***an and Gay Studies (CLAGS) was founded in 1991 by the distinguished historian Martin Duberman to develop public programming and scholarly research about LGBT lives, histories, and experiences. Founded in the belief that education is a critical tool in the struggle for social justice, CLAGS has worked hard to put bring universities and non-academic communities together. Over the years, the work of CLAGS and IRN has expanded enormously to include a wide range of public, community-based and scholarly activities. The IRN regions have implemented a number of projects designed to serve the goals of the network and local organizations. These projects include digital archive collections (Caribbean, Asia, Middle East), online journals (Africa and Latin America), online multi-media collection (Caribbean), sponsored workshops and mini-conferences (Asia) and sexualities courses (Latin America and Caribbean).
