It's that time of year! WaHi Cats holiday cards have landed in mailboxes of all our favorite kitties & supporters. As hard as it is to say goodbye, these cute faces help us smile through the process. (A big thanks to Mike Wirtz for his yearly design donation, and for making this final card so special.)

Please feel free to post a picture of your kitty with his/her card in the comments below! xoxo,

Dearest Friends of WaHi Cats—

After 16 incredible years helping thousands of cats in the Heights, WaHi Cats will close on December 31. It is never easy to say goodbye, but life pulls us all in different directions, and even the most beautiful things have a natural end. This decision was bittersweet, yet we know it was the right one. It felt important to close this special organization with love in our hearts, and to wind down carefully and properly—in a good way and at the right time, while everyone involved in the work was still strong and healthy, and had the time, energy, & resources to oversee a smooth ending.

These past 16 years have been a beautiful run, and we are deeply grateful to all of you: every donor, volunteer, foster, adopter, trapper, colony caretaker, and supporter who made this work possible. Thousands of lives—human and feline—were transformed by your compassion and advocacy. Thank you for being the heart of the WaHi Cats family, and for your love of the cats of Washington Heights.

We love you,

The WaHi Cats Team

Exposing dangerous misinformation about TNR in The New Yorker ❗

Alley Cat Allies is compelled to address the shockingly biased, dangerously misinformed, and often downright insulting portrayal of Trap-Neuter-Return (TNR), community cats, and the people who protect them in a piece published in The New Yorker.

Cats Filled the Prison. Then the Inmates Fell in Love.

In Chile’s oldest and most overcrowded prison, the inmates have found solace in the hundreds of stray cats.

You know what helps make our season bright? The fact that so many of you take the time to send us notes at the holidays telling us how your adopted WaHi kitties are doing! 💛💛💛
Thank you, friends! We love getting these updates. Meow.
May your New Year be filled with peace and purrs.

Hello wonderful neighbors and WaHi Cats supporters! It's that time of year again--annual WaHi Cats holiday card time!!

This year, in honor of our 15-year anniversary of helping cats in the Heights, our incredible graphic designer Mike Wirtz has once again donated his talents to produce a whimsical card. Thank you, Mike! These adorable cards went out last week, so they should be arriving in your mailboxes soon. Feel free to post a picture below of your kitty with it. We love seeing your fur babies! ❤️

Here's our Assistant Treasurer, Harvey Milkstache, posing with his card. Boy does this fella love posing. (When he's not sleeping, that is.)

Update on Babette & Jules (cats thrown from 4th floor window). They are doing extremely well in their foster home. Check out some pics of them!!! Thank you all for your support.

Meet Jules (Black) & Barbette (Tortie). We named them after famous trapeze artists. These are the two kittens we posted about yesterday who were thrown from a 4th floor window.

A huge thank you to FDNY at W 143rd who lowered their ladders down an air shaft to save them.

We are looking for a foster home for them so please spread the word. They'll be vaccinated before they move.
