Arts & Minds’ joined the Harlem Pride celebration last weekend. Special guests included New York State Attorney General Letitia James, and State Senator Cordell Cleare. The festival was an opportunity to spread the word about our FREE uptown arts workshops for people with memory loss and their care partners.

Arts & Minds community partnerships include The Alzheimer’s Disease Research Center at Columbia University, Edie Windsor SAGE Center, PSS Manhattanville Center, Morningside Retirement & Health Services, and Riverstone Senior Life Services.

Recently Arts & Minds Founder and Executive Director Carolyn Halpin-Healy attended the Columbia Community Service (CCS) Grantee Reception held at The Forum at Columbia University. She met the guest speaker, Basil Smikle Jr., Ph.D., MSNBC Political Analyst and Professor of Practice & Director of the M.S. in nonprofit management program – Columbia School of Professional Studies.

With the growing generosity of the University’s faculty and staff, CCS now raises $300,000 per year, giving every dollar to local nonprofit organizations working to build a happier, healthier, and stronger Upper Manhattan.

Manhattan District Attorney, Alving Bragg made an appearance at the Third Annual Community Board 9 Senior Resource Fair held at The Forum at Columbia University. He stopped by the Arts & Minds information table to inquire about our FREE art workshops for seniors with dementia and their care partners. Arts & Minds continues to expand in-person community programs uptown and is always on the lookout for new ways of connecting with families that have been touched by dementia. Spring through fall we participate in numerous uptown public events, such as health fairs and block parties, to get the word out.
