“Powerful Pawns”

Congratulations to Soror Sherri Jackson and her daughter, Khyri Blue! In June, Khyri’s drawing, “Powerful Pawns,” was selected by the Apollo Theater as the visual arts winner in the elementary school category.

Artists were asked to submit their work along with a response to the question: “Why have we always been where Black artists needed to be, and why does it still matter now?”

Khyri’s winning drawing will have a permanent place in the recently renovated historic theater—an amazing honor!

Congratulations, Soror Sherri 'Blue' Jackson, to you and your future artist! 💙🤍
