The all-volunteer Board of the Folk Music Society of NY has been working hard over the years to keep you entertained, joyful, and connected through (and to) song. We all know that the times, they are a-changin’ and we need your help to continue on that mission in the best way possible.

You have a lot of priorities competing for your free time and money. When you choose to come to our events, spend time with us, and support us, it is no small thing and we want it to be as valuable to you as it is to us.

Thank you for being part of our musical community! FMSNY has been ensuring that folk music thrives in NY since 1965, and you have been a valuable part of that. We need your continued support to “Make More Music Happen.” Can you help us in our mission to keep the folk and trad music community thriving in NY for years to
come by donating to FMSNY?

Unfortunately, our ticket prices and membership fees only cover part of the cost of running our programs. We depend on your generous contributions to balance our books and keep our programs going. FMSNY is an all volunteer organization; all donations, memberships, and ticket sales go directly to expenses for events and paying our artists fairly.

If you are able, please consider making a donation (tax deductible to the full extent permitted by law). TOMORROW! Join us Sunday, AUG. from 2-4 pm for the Staten Island Chantey Sing Session. We support the Chantey Sing on the 3rd Sunday of the month. The William Main Doerflinger Memorial Sea Shanty Sessions at the Noble Maritime Collection (to give the official title) are at Bldg D, Snug Harbor Cultural Center, 1000 Richmond Terrace, Staten Island. The sessions are dedicated to the memory of William Main Doerflinger (1909-2000), the noted music scholar who lived near Sailors' Snug Harbor and visited often to collect shanties and traditional sailor’s songs from the residents. Join in on the catchy choruses or lead a chantey!

End your summer on a melodious note at TradMaD Camp, led by the fabulous Joy Bennett and set at the beautiful and historic Pinewoods Camp in Plymouth, MA.

Enjoy six days (Sat. Aug. 29 – Fri. Sept. 4, 2026) of workshops, dances, concerts, jamming, one-shots, camper concerts, parties, boating, swimming in two lovely ponds, relaxing, learning, eating well, & having a truly magical experience with friends new and old!

Our staff are not only great performers; they are also consistently excellent teachers. This year’s staff includes: Scott Ainslie, Sarah Elizabeth Burkey, Howie Bursen, Amy Conley, Andy Davis, Craig Edwards, Gina Forsyth, Lisa Gutkin, Rev. Robert B. Jones, Sr., Chris Koldewey, Bennett Konesni, Chris Newman, Máire Ni Chathasaigh, Sally Rogers, The Vox Hunters (Armand Aromin, Flannery Brown, and Benedict Gagliardi), Matt Watroba, Macdara Yeates, and special guests.
