Today, we pause to honor and remember the brave service members who gave their lives in service to our country.

Memorial Day is a time for reflection, gratitude, and remembrance. It can also bring up feelings of grief, loss, or emotional heaviness for many individuals and families.

As we gather with loved ones today, we also recognize those carrying memories, absence, and sacrifice.

We encourage our community to approach today with compassion for ourselves and for one another.

Wishing everyone a safe, peaceful, and meaningful Memorial Day
For some, it’s a day of reflection, grief, remembrance, or emotional heaviness.

Healing is personal but it doesn’t have to happen alone.

Community care can look like:
Checking in on a friend
Sharing resources
Helping someone feel seen
Listening without judgment

Support matters.

Especially in communities where mental health conversations have historically been silenced. Here at the Margaret Morgan Lawrence Center for Family and Child Development we believe in healing and community support.

Its Tuesday, time for a tip! Not every hard day is a crisis but that doesn’t mean it’s easy.

When life gets busy, emotional regulation can feel impossible. Small pauses matter. A deep breath before responding. A walk around the block. Taking 5 quiet minutes before jumping into the next task.

Regulation isn’t about being calm all the time.
It’s about learning how to return to yourself.

Today we recognize the importance of families in all their forms.
On International Day of Families, we honor the people who support, nurture, uplift, and care for us, whether related by blood, friendship, community, or chosen connection.

Strong family support can positively impact emotional well-being, resilience, communication, and overall mental health. But families are not perfect, and many people are navigating stress, caregiving responsibilities, grief, conflict, or healing within family relationships.

Healthy family support can look like:
• Listening without judgment
• Creating safe spaces for emotions
• Encouraging open conversations
• Respecting boundaries
• Asking for help when needed

Every family’s journey is different. Compassion, patience, and connection matter.

If your family relationships are complicated, know that support and healing are still possible. Community care counts too.

Today, consider:
• Checking in with a loved one
• Sharing a meal together
• Starting an honest conversation
• Expressing appreciation
• Making time for connection
