Queens College Community Table

Queens College Community Table Beginning in April 15, Queens College Open Table will be sharing fresh food from local supermarkets. Remember, one man’s trash is another man’s treasure!

Nutritious food is picked up from locations throughout Queens, Brooklyn and Manhattan on Sundays between 10:30 and 1pm, then brought to Queens College for sharing at 2 pm until approximately 5 pm (including clean up). This food is 100% safe for consumption but due to over purchasing, can no longer be shelved, allowing us to feed Queens and prevent waste. Volunteers are welcome to bring anything ne

cessary items to share:
Toiletries, toys, and clothes are items we may have in our home collecting dust. Leave something and perhaps find something to take for yourself. We operate on a word of mouth basis. While we don’t believe in turning people away, we hope participants share with those truly in need. There is plenty available so long as there are steady participants to stick with us every Sunday. We always need volunteers, especially drivers! Contact us if you need anymore information or would be interested in helping out

We are holding our first trial run tomorrow Friday October 19th at 3 pm in the queens college dining hall. Picking up food from management at 3 pm. We are Assessing the amount we will have on a weekly basis and discuss procedures. A few people may come from the community but we did not advertise yet. Word of mouth if you know anyone in need bring them for some food to take home. Perishable. Please come to discuss procedures and logistics if you would like to be a Friday volunteer between 3 and 5 pm. Tomorrow will only involve a brief discussion between 3and 330. Also help by connecting us with a local place who can use what we have leftover tomorrow afternoon.

How awesome!

It's always seemed strange to me that most parks grow only ornamental flowers and shrubs. Sure, it's nice to have pretty flowers around, but what if our parks also produced food for those who need it? From sharing
