Paddle for the Cure

Paddle for the Cure Our mission is to create a special sisterhood of breast cancer survivors and supporters. Our on-water season is May through October.

Paddle for the Cure is a special support organization for breast cancer survivors. We offer a unique survivorship program that uses recreational dragon boat paddling to manage treatment side effects for breast cancer survivors and promotes a positive and healthy lifestyle. Organized by survivors ourselves, we paddle our way to recovery with each other and a tremendous group of supporters and padd

ling enthusiasts along our side. Off-season indoor practices are available November through April. We plan to practice weekly in the World's Fair Marina and participate in Dragon Boat races along the East Coast. Our team events are open to all and they promote a healthy lifestyle, a way of getting life and movement back through emotional support, team spirit, and exercise. Donations and tickets at our fundraisers and events are 100% tax-deductible as we are a 501 (c) non-profit organization.

Paddle for Miles. Paddle for Pink.

This Saturday, Paddle for the Cure NYC is proud to join the 17th Annual Dragon Boat Festival and Paddle for Pink Race in New Jersey.

We donโ€™t drag our feetโ€”we travel miles.

Because when there is a cause worth fighting for, distance doesnโ€™t matter.

Many teams race to compete.

We race for a cause.

Not every journey is measured by trophies. Some are measured by the lives we touch along the way.

๐ŸŒธ Honoring survivors.
๐ŸŒธ Supporting those still fighting.
๐ŸŒธ Remembering loved ones through the Flower Ceremony.

Every mile traveled.
Every stroke taken.
Every flower released.

Together, we paddle for hope, healing, and survivorship.

๐Ÿšฃโ€โ™€๏ธ See you on the water, NJ!

๐ŸŒŠ Water is life, and together we carry a light of hope that never fades.

Every wave tells a story. Every stroke carries a purpose.

We push through the waves on our journey of recovery. With every paddle stroke, we move beyond pain, fear, doubt, and adversity. We choose resilience, refusing to let our challenges define us.

That is why we continue Paddling for the Cureโ€”with courage, determination, and hope.

Together, we transform pain into purpose, setbacks into strength, and survivorship into action. We paddle not only for ourselves, but for those still fighting, those we have lost, and those who need encouragement to keep going.

๐ŸŒŠ We live here. We race here. We save lives here

6-8-26 ๐ŸŒŠ WORLD OCEAN DAY 2026 ๐ŸŒŠ

Theme: โ€œReimagine: Beyond the World We Know, A New Relationship With Our Oceanโ€

โ˜€๏ธ Summer is coming, and the water is calling.

Water is life.

Today, on 6/8, we celebrate World Ocean Day and the healing power of water.

As a Filipino-Chinese founder, the number 8 symbolizes luck, prosperity, and infinite possibilities. Today is 6/8, and this year marks Paddle for the Cure NYCโ€™s 8th Active Season.

As a fearless survivor, Leah has been on the other side. She survived breast cancer twice, a diabetic coma where she woke up on the fourth day, two car accidents, and COVID twice.

Because she has been on the other side and is still here today, she knows that life is a gift and should never be taken for granted.

Over the years, Leah has touched thousands of lives through her advocacy, volunteerism, speaking engagements, and survivor-led programs. With that gift comes a responsibilityโ€”to share her light so others can shine.

The brighter we shine, the brighter our communities become. The brighter we shine, the better our world becomes.

๐ŸŒŠ Water Is Life.
โœจ Share Your Light.
๐Ÿ’— Celebrate the Gift of Life.

We Are the Water.
We Are the Light of Hope That Never Fades.

โœจ HOPE & COURAGE GALA 2026 โœจ

๐ŸŒŠ Today is World Ocean Day ๐ŸŒŠ

This yearโ€™s theme, โ€œReimagine: Beyond the World We Know, A New Relationship With Our Ocean,โ€ reminds us that transformation begins when we dare to see new possibilities.

That is exactly what the Hope & Courage Gala is about.

๐ŸŒŠ Reimagining survivorship.
๐ŸŒŠ Reimagining what a small organization can accomplish.
๐ŸŒŠ Reimagining how one survivorโ€™s story can inspire thousands.
๐ŸŒŠ Reimagining how a small organization with a big heart can create powerful waves of change.
๐ŸŒŠ Reimagining community, compassion, and connection through our Circle of Light.
๐ŸŒŠ Reimagining a future where hope, healing, and humanity come together to transform lives.

As a two-time breast cancer survivor and Founder of Paddle for the Cure NYC, Leah Salmorin is a voice for survivors and living proof that miracles happen. She survived breast cancer twice, a diabetic coma where she experienced what she describes as being on the other side before waking up on the fourth day, two car accidents, and COVID-19 twice.

That second chance became a callingโ€”to inspire others, advocate for survivors, and create opportunities for healing through community, wellness, and the healing power of water.

As a Filipino-Chinese founder, June 8 holds special meaning. The number 8 symbolizes luck, prosperity, and infinite possibilities. Fittingly, today is June 8, and 2026 marks Paddle for the Cure NYCโ€™s 8th Active Season.

Hosted by Prashant Goyal of Heritage India Fashions, whose mother is a breast cancer survivor, this special evening celebrates courage, resilience, and community. Prashant chose to support Paddle for the Cure NYC because he believes in a mission that is pure, authentic, and dedicated to helping others.

We are a small organization that relies on individual donors like you. We do not receive grants, yet we continue to create programs that bring hope, healing, and support to survivors and their families.

๐Ÿ’— Your ticket is more than admission to a gala.

It is support for survivors.
It is an investment in hope.
It helps keep our programs, outreach, and operations afloat.
It helps bring huge ideas to life and fuels an extraordinary movement built on hope, resilience, and community.

6/2/26 Yesterday, our Heart Tree Pledge of Hope was officially activated at Ridgewood Savings Bank in Forest Hills.

In honor of National Cancer Survivor Month, visitors are invited to pick a heart from the glass bowl, read the message, make a suggested donation of $5, and add their own Heart of Hope to the tree.

The tree has already started growing as community members share messages of hope, courage, resilience, and survivorship.

A special thank you to Nancy Adzemovic, Assistant Vice President & Branch Manager of Ridgewood Savings Bank, for opening the doors to our organization once again and allowing us to be part of Ridgewood Savings Bankโ€™s Multiply the Good initiative.

๐Ÿ’— Help us grow our Heart Tree of Hope, reach our goal by the end of the month, and bring hope to lifeโ€”one heart, one message, and one act of kindness at a time.

Canโ€™t make it in person? You can still support our mission by making an online donation at www.pfcnyc.org/donate.

Paddle for the Cure NYC relies on individual donors like you. We do not receive grants, but we continue to provide free programs for cancer survivors, affordable opportunities for youth, and meaningful community events throughout the year.

๐Ÿ’— Small organization. Big creative ideas. Huge heart. Join our extraordinary movement.
