Paddle for the Cure Join our extraordinary movement. Water is Life. www.pfcnyc.org Paddle for the Cure is a special support organization for breast cancer survivors.

Paddle for the Cure NYC (PFC) is an Independent Breast cancer survivor-led 501(c)(3) charity promoting water sports, wellness, and our signature Circle of Light™ worldwide. We offer a unique survivorship program that uses recreational dragon boat paddling to manage treatment side effects for breast cancer survivors and promotes a positive and healthy lifestyle. Organized by survivors ourselves, we paddle our way to recovery with each other and a tremendous group of supporters and paddling enthusiasts along our side. Our on-water season is May through October. Off-season indoor practices are available November through April. We plan to practice weekly in the World's Fair Marina and participate in Dragon Boat races along the East Coast. Our team events are open to all and they promote a healthy lifestyle, a way of getting life and movement back through emotional support, team spirit, and exercise. Donations and tickets at our fundraisers and events are 100% tax-deductible as we are a 501 (c) non-profit organization.

10/18 /26— PINK POWER MEETS PINOY PRIDE!

After bringing hope to diverse communities, the Pink Dragon returned to her Filipino roots—carrying resilience, giving hope, and passing her light!

We thank Assemblymember Steven Raga for recognizing Leah with a New York State Assembly Citation as a Filipino American History Month Honoree of Distinction. We thank our Dragonettes, Dragons, volunteers, and everyone who celebrated alongside us!

With the microphone in her hand, Leah spoke with confidence and let her Pink Roar be heard—a proud celebration of Breast Cancer Awareness Month and Filipino American History Month.

A trailblazer. A survivor. A Pink Dragon on a mission.

Leah rebuilt PFC with just $25 in 2016. Look how far that beginning has carried us. Imagine what funding could make possible.

She fights for survivors and the waters that sustain us. Her belief in caring for the whole person drives her to bring people to the water—promoting a healthy, active lifestyle through paddling, movement, connection with nature, mental well-being, and faith, alongside science and medical care.

The earlier breast cancer is diagnosis , the better the chance of successful treatment. So it’s important to check your breasts regularly and see your GP if you notice a change.

Common breast cancer signs and symptoms include:

• a lump or swelling in the breast, upper chest or armpit – you might feel the lump but not see it
• a change to the skin, such as puckering or dimpling
• a change in the colour of the breast – the breast may look red or inflamed
• a change to the ni**le, for example it has become pulled in (inverted) rash or crusting around the ni**le
• any unusual liquid (discharge) from either ni**le
changes in size or shape of the breast

Check the whole breast area, including your upper chest and armpits.

Do this regularly to check for changes.

SMALL BUT MIGHTY—IMAGINE HOW FAR WE COULD GO.

This BCAM, Leah shares her thoughts: Research gets funding, yet survivor wellness programs are often overlooked.

Dr. Don McKenzie’s research is featured in the video below For Leah, the power of paddling is personal.

She grew up near the water and has always loved swimming. Water renews her soul, giving her comfort and strength whenever she feels unwell. Years later, paddling helped improve the swelling in her arm from lymphedema, and she was able to stop wearing her bandages.

That is why she keeps fighting. When God called her to lead, she answered with faith—bringing hope to the universe as living proof of resilience, standing for those who cannot speak for themselves, and standing for the water that gives us life. Water is Life.

Her message goes beyond paddling: stay active and embrace a healthy lifestyle through movement suited to your abilities. Survivors can still be athletes, at different levels and at their own pace.

Leah rebuilt PFC with just $25. Sustained by individual donors, we are small but mighty. Imagine how far she could take PFC with funding—and how many more survivors and students she could reach with free wellness programs, strength, support, and hope.

Research matters. Wellness deserves investment, too.
