NMASS (National Mobilization Against Sweatshops)

We organize as workers -- native-born and immigrant; documented and undocumented; from all backgrounds and walks of life -- against sweatshop conditions like long hours and for control of our lives.

The Coalition to Protect Chinatown & the Lower East Side is excited to be a part of this exhibition organized by Art Against Displacement. Thank you to everyone who attended the opening reception of NOT FOR SALE this weekend!

As part of the show, please join us for a FILM SCREENING this Wednesday, May 17th at 6:30pm at 537 Broadway, 2nd Floor

In conjunction with the exhibit, Not For Sale: Material Traces of Protest in Chinatown & LES, 2002–Present, Art Against Displacement presents an offsite screening at the Emily Harvey Foundation on Wednesday, May 17th at 6:30pm featuring the work of Sihan Cui, Zishun Ning, Lily Jue Sheng, Alvin Tsang, and Siyan Wong. Ranging in genre from the documentary to the experimental, the program illuminates recent and ongoing experiences of labor exploitation and displacement in the Chinatowns of both Lower Manhattan and Flushing, Queens. All based in New York, the five filmmakers will be present to introduce their films.

Suggested entry to the screening is $10, with proceeds going toward the Coalition to Protect Chinatown & LES.

Not For Sale will be on view at Citygroup through Friday, May 26th, with a teach-in about the Chinatown Working Group Plan planned for Tuesday, May 23rd (details forthcoming). Citygroup is open to the public Thursdays to Saturdays, 2–6pm.

Many thanks to the Emily Harvey Foundation for hosting this benefit screening!

See you Wednesday, May 17th @ 6:30pm!
