Muddy Paws Rescue is 501(c)3 non-profit organization based in New York City dedicated to partnering with animal shelters to pull and place dogs into loving forever homes. What is a little bit dark, disturbing, and raises your heartbeat? Verity... first a book, then a newly released movie, and now a litter of puppies coming to an adoption event near you!

Their fur is as dark as their story goes; they come from the disturbing reality that far too many puppies are waiting at shelters and rescues; and their cute little puppy tails will have your heartbeats going through the roof! Verity, Jeremy, Lowen and Crawford's tales are just beginning, and while we don't know what the future holds, we hope that whatever (or whoever!) is next is much brighter than how Verity ends 👀

Ol' Bessie Ol' Bessie... while she may be 10 years old, weighing 7lbs soaking wet and has her tongue out 24/7, don't count this Southern girl out just yet. She's a dependable and faithful little gal that is looking to be someone's partner in life. 🤠

One of the best parts of adopting a senior is they still have all the enthusiasm and love that a puppy does, but the wisdom and confidence that comes with age, and Bessie is already becoming a seasoned New Yorker. When she's walking through busy city streets, nothing seems to faze her – loud trucks, sirens, crowds, construction noise... she takes the city in stride and makes an excellent walking companion. She's confident, curious, and always ready for an adventure. 😜

At 12 years old Gizmo knows that the key to life is to take everything as it comes and to not sweat the small stuff. Gizmo is an easy going little man (he's a whopping 16 pounds!) who is the definition of mellow. He loves to cuddle and give affection to his people, but is also perfectly content having down time alone. Gizmo is blind with cataracts so he is looking for an adopter that will match his peaceful pace, especially on walks. Making sure to not spook him with sudden moments is what helps keep his calm demeanor in tact. Other than that, Gizmo is the low energy teddy bear best friend you just might be looking for! 🐻

Allow us to reintroduce some familiar faces! You may have seen these pups pop up on our page before, but there’s something pretty special about dogs who’ve been in foster for a while: we really, *really* know them.

They’ve been living in a home. We know their routines. Their quirks. Their favorite things. Their weird little habits. What makes them nervous. What helps them settle. Our ⭐️Dog of the Month⭐️ for October is Ripley!

This gorgeous girl would love nothing more than to trick-or-treat in her fancy bat costume on Halloween with a family of her own. In fact, she's known to do lots of tricks FOR treats and can't wait to show off her skills. She has a big funny personality and loves to investigate the world around her. Ripley loves to make you laugh with her hilarious antics and joyful approach to life.

Because her zest for life is so large, she struggles to share space with other dogs. Ripley is happiest in the suburbs where she can act like the whole world is her oyster, and hers alone!

Meet Duke — a 60-pound, 8-year-old gentleman who has perfected the art of being an absolute angel.

Duke is calm, affectionate, social, and wonderfully agreeable. He’s potty trained, crate trained, sleeps through the night, and is happy to spend most of his day snoozing peacefully near his people. But don’t let his low-key lifestyle fool you — he’s always up for a walk, a game of tug or fetch, or some quality sniffing time.

Duke is an easygoing boy who just wants to be where his humans are. He loves being pet, loves chicken (a LOT), and has mastered the perfect balance of playtime and couch time. He walks nicely on leash and, while he may occasionally get excited to meet another dog or bark at something suspicious, he’s easy to redirect.

If your ideal dog is someone who will happily nap by your side and then perk up for a little adventure, Duke might just be your guy.

Autumn is in full swing and it's the perfect time to *fall* in love with a new pup just like all of these families did the past week!

Remember - our website is updated in real time and changes daily with new pups appearing! It's the best place to check (and recheck and recheck) for the most up-to-date listings of available dogs. Today’s Happy Tail is the story of Phoebe, who joined our back in August of 2024 from the and found her person in Giselle. Phoebe was a volunteer favorite, and attended event after event without much interest. But for her, the wait was worth it.

Giselle told us that she had just lost her dog, Vegas, a few months before seeing Phoebe and wasn’t even thinking about adopting another dog but “then one day, Phoebe randomly popped up on my Instagram, big smile, all her teeth showing, tongue out, and I remember thinking, 'who is this dog?'. When I finally went to meet her, everything clicked. She was calm, gentle, and didn’t demand attention. She just said hi, let me pet her, and then basically said, 'Okay, let’s go for a walk.' It didn’t feel like I was choosing a dog, it felt like I was recognizing her as my own.”

Once Phoebe was home, Giselle told us that “the adjustment felt surprisingly natural, like she had been waiting for me to catch up to her the whole time.” Sharing that Phoebe went from a “very calm and sleepy girl to flopping dramatically in front of people for pets, getting random bursts of zoomies at my grandma’s house, and fully embracing her 'center of attention' era. Watching her come out of her shell felt like getting to meet her all over again.”

When asked how Phoebe has changed her life, Giselle told us that she is “especially grateful for her because I didn’t know if I’d be able to open my heart again after losing Vegas. There are moments where she does something that reminds me of him, and it feels like a little sign that everything is okay, like he somehow sent her to me when I needed her most. I didn’t think I was ready for another dog, but somehow, I was ready for Phoebe."

Happy National Adopt a Shelter Dog Month🐾💙! We might be foster-based but we work with our shelter partners day in and day out to make sure we are giving them the critical support they need to save lives.

The incredible folks at , and the give everything they have to the dogs in their care and we're proud to pull their dogs in to our program as often as possible. Shelter dogs come in all shapes and sizes - so if you're considering bringing a pup into your family soon, we hope you'll consider visiting your nearest shelter to find them! (We wouldn't mind if you checked us out as well since our pups are shelter dogs once-removed 😏)

Meet Vivi! At 2.5 years old, Vivi is affectionate, curious, and happiest when she’s by your side. She LOVES people and will happily stop to say hello to everyone she meets. She enjoys long sniffy walks, playing with her toys, exploring the world, and eventually curling up next to you for a cozy couch nap.

Vivi has come such a long way and is a wonderful example of how much a dog can learn with patience and positive reinforcement. She’s gained confidence around things that once scared her (bicycles, skateboards, scooters & even birds!), walks nicely on leash, is housebroken, sleeps through the night, and can settle happily at home. She’s also gentle and respectful when meeting other dogs and loves kids.

She’s still building confidence and would do best with someone who will continue helping her learn about the world at her own pace. In return, you’ll get an incredibly sweet, people-loving companion who will greet you with her whole body wiggling and make you feel like the most important person in the world.
