Oriki Omi Oddara Afro Cuban Dance Theater Oriki Omi Oddara is an acclaimed Afro-Cuban Dance Theater Ensemble, founded by the legendary Felix "Pupy" Insua, in July 2002.

Oriki is currently under the direction of Jennifer Donello. ORIKI'S repertoire illuminates the roots of the Cuban rhythms beginning with the sacred music, song and dance of the Yoruba, Congo, Calabar and Dahomey cultures and their influences on contemporary and social dance forms. Given his mastery of the folkloric technique coupled with his extensive training in classical and contemporary ballet,

modern, and jazz, Insua’s choreography surpassed the realm of traditional dance. Explosive and masterful arrangements of rhythms and vocals, executed by renown percussionists coupled with invigorating, fresh, and authentic choreography, Oriki Omi Oddara shares the beauty, complexity and intensity of the Afro-Cuban Culture with a world audience.

ORIKI OMI ODDARA, a company founded by FELIX "PUPY" INSUA, is pleased to host a series of AFRO-CUBAN MASTER WORKSHOPS and a SPECIAL EVENT this weekend, Friday May 11 -Sunday, May 13 for JUAN DE DIOS and his company RAICES PROFUNDAS, from HAVANA, CUBA. Juan is a living legend of Afro-Cuban Culture and the Master of Masters. Juan was Pupy's mentor and guide ~ Pupy, a former member of Raices Profundas. AUDITIONS... AUDITIONS... Attention all dancers.. Oriki Omi Oddara is about to launch auditions for some upcoming projects in May, August, and fall of 2011... We are looking for dancers who are versed in the traditional Afro-Cuban dances, have some experience with modern/contemporary ballet, and have performance experience.
