The American Indian Law Alliance (AILA) is an Indigenous, non-profit organization that works with Indigenous Nations, Peoples and organizations in our struggle for sovereignty, human rights and social justice for our peoples. We hold consultative status with the United Nations Economic & Social Council (ECOSOC). AILA was founded in 1989 by the late Tonya Gonnella Frichner, Esq. (Onondaga, Snipe Clan).

The Haudenosaunee Wooden Stick Festival was a huge success! The festival took place the weekend of 11-13 September 2026.

Thank you for another amazing festival bringing good medicine to sacred Onondaga Lake. Thank you to the 100s of attendees as well as all the vendors, sponsors, speakers, teams, and volunteers!

On Friday night, we held the annual Alfie Jacques Ambassador Award Dinner. Congrats to this year's honorees, Dom Starsia, Michael Kennedy, and Mike Kanatakeron Mitchell (Mohawk Nation). Their contributions span the globe: a college coach who shaped generations of players, an international leader who has helped lacrosse broaden its international reach with integrity, and a Haudenosaunee ambassador whose presence affirms the game's living roots.

We follow the Thanksgiving Address by protecting Mother Earth. The eagle has returned to Onondaga Lake for the first time in over 200 years.

On Saturday morning, hundreds of runners, walkers, and rollers came together at Onondaga Lake for the annual 'Restore Our Sacred Lake' 5k (run, walk, or roll.) This event raises awareness of the importance of Onondaga Lake, the urgency of furthering the lake cleanup, and the effort to Return Maple Bay to the Onondaga Nation.

All day on Saturday and Sunday, we gathered on the shores of sacred Onondaga Lake for the Haudenosaunee Wooden Stick Festival & Randy Hall Masters. A community clean up took place on Sunday morning, collecting trash from the shoreline. Other events included: traditional wooden stick making demonstration by Travis Tionatakwente Gabriel (Mohawk Nation), the annual Smoke Dance Competition, and Haudenosaunee foods & crafters.
