Today, we're excited to celebrate 100 years of service across New York State and Northern New Jersey. Thank you, New York State Governor Kathy Hochul and New York City Mayor Zohran Kwame Mamdani, for these beautiful Proclamations. We are incredibly honored to have served as a pillar in the blind and low vision community for so long, and we hope to continue serving for centuries to come!

We are excited to share a very special Centennial Spotlight video featuring VISIONS Workforce Program, which helps job seekers across the spectrum of vision loss build the skills, confidence, and experience needed to pursue their career goals.

Our Workforce Development staff provides work-readiness training, career exploration programs, and job placement services, while also offering support for participants navigating the transition from school to employment.

We are highlighting Manahil, a college graduate and VISIONS Workforce participant who shares the story of her successful employment journey.

We invite you to watch our spotlight video which explores the impact of Workforce Development services and the opportunities they create for participants as they prepare for meaningful careers and greater independence.

Turn Possibility Into Opportunity:

The journey from education and training to meaningful employment requires more than preparation; it requires employers willing to recognize talent and potential. VISIONS works with businesses across a wide range of industries to connect qualified job seekers with rewarding career opportunities.

VISIONS Workforce Program was ranked #1 in job placements for job seekers with visual impairments for 10 consecutive years by the New York State Commission for the Blind (NYSCB). If your organization is committed to building a more inclusive workforce, we would love to start a conversation about how we can work together.

Email [email protected] for more information about our Workforce Program, and how you or your organization can get started today.

Congratulations to our Spring 2026 Employment Readiness Program participants who have completed their program this week! Over the last 15 weeks, participants learned valuable work readiness and independent living skills, earned their Customer Service certificates from the National Retail Federation, and some even earned additional career-focused certifications from Rockland BOCES! In addition, participants put their new skills to the test by completing an 80-100-hour paid Work Experience Training. We're so proud of our graduates, and can't wait to see where their futures take them!

We are excited to share a very special Centennial Spotlight video featuring VISIONS Older Adult Center (OAC), which has helped older adults stay active, connected, and engaged in their communities for decades!

Our OAC was created to provide older adults across the spectrum of vision loss with a welcoming place to build friendships, access support, and continue participating fully in community life. Today, it remains a vital resource in the Chelsea neighborhood of New York City, welcoming participants from all five boroughs, and offering classes, counseling, nutritious meals, recreational activities, and countless opportunities for meaningful social connection.

This month’s video explores what makes the Center so special, and the impact it has on the lives of those who walk through its doors.

On May 27th, Google hosted VISIONS Workforce team and 12 college students at their 111 8th Avenue office. It was a morning filled with learning about how Google makes its workplace accessible for all employees. Our participants also heard from four blind and visually impaired Googlers about their career journeys and roles at Google.

Thank you to Cynthia Bennett, Saej Chung PLY, Sasha Blair-Goldensohn, and the amazing Google volunteers for their generosity and for such an incredible day.

A big thank you to Council Member Linda Lee for once again welcoming VISIONS to her annual Spring Health Fair!

For the ninth year, our Senior Director of Fundraising, Doreen DiLeonardo, proudly represented VISIONS, connecting with fellow exhibitors and community members while sharing information about the services and support we provide to people across the spectrum of vision loss.

Community outreach events like this are so important. They help us build awareness, answer questions, and connect more people with the resources they need to remain independent, confident, and engaged in their communities. We are grateful to Councilwoman Lee and her team for their continued partnership and support, and to everyone who stopped by to learn more about VISIONS.

A big thank you to Julie Skinner and the entire Pfizer Vaccines Research & Development team for spending the day volunteering at VISIONS Center on Blindness (VCB)!

More than 30 Pfizer employees rolled up their sleeves to help prepare our campus for the busy summer season, taking on projects ranging from landscaping and painting to assembling furniture and preparing our residential spaces for our upcoming Summer programs.

We are incredibly grateful for Pfizer and the many volunteer groups who donate their time and talents here at VCB. Support like this helps us create welcoming, accessible environments where people with vision loss can learn, grow, and thrive.
