Leading Experts and Global Advocates Addressed Critical Health Inequities at the United Nations Headquarters in the Forum’s second year.

We hosted the Health Equity Forum 2024 at the United Nations on September 26th, 2024, bringing together leaders who focus on SDGs 3 and 10.

In a remarkable display of dedication, we conceived and launched the inaugural Health Equity Forum in 2023 within a few weeks. The event, which took place in the SDG Media Zone, was a testament to the fantastic group of leaders involved.

This year, we were in the beautiful Delegates' Dining room on the 4th floor of the UN during the most important week of the year.

Sometimes you must take the first step, jump right in, and build. But you must do it with your friends, partners, and people who encourage and inspire you.

The Health Equity Forum wouldn’t have been possible without Enrique Arbelaez, Sergio Fernandez de Cordova, Stephen Keppel, and Lili Gil Valletta. Carlos Macías and the Foundation team did a fantastic job pulling the event together.

We are grateful to our Founding Partners, Gilead Sciences, CIEN+, and Akkad Holdings LLC Holdings, who are helping to grow this movement. Our Program Partners Humana and Guardant Health have also stepped up in a big way to support the vision of the Health Equity Forum. Thank you, thank you. 🙏🙏

We are thrilled to announce the powerful roster of confirmed speakers for the 2024 Health Equity Forum at the United Nations during General Assembly High-Level Week.

Discussion topics this year include improving global health outcomes for people living with HIV, uncovering the hidden drivers of health inequities, exploring food security as a driver of good health outcomes in early childhood, the power of community to enhance health equity, discussing what is the media's role in tackling social determinants of health, and how health systems are reshaping the supply chain, among more topics.

The Forum brings together healthcare leaders and stakeholders from multiple industries to explore innovative ways to address the challenges of achieving health equity and having more inclusive healthcare systems.

This year, our discussions will include examining the role of data and AI in healthcare, exploring inclusivity in healthcare beyond the obvious, reimagining talent pipelines, and highlighting programs that bear fruit and deserve to be replicated elsewhere. According to The Peterson Center on Healthcare and KFF, the U.S. spends twice as much on healthcare as other industrialized countries.

"Health expenditures per person in the U.S. were $12,555 in 2022, which was over $4,000 more than any other high-income nation. The average amount spent on health per person in comparable countries ($6,651) is about half of what the U.S. spends per person."

However, these numbers do not equate to better healthcare outcomes. It is time to work closer together to close these gaps.
