Ukrainian students continue to reach remarkable heights, even as Russia’s brutal war against their homeland has defined much of their youth.

Congratulations to Ukraine’s medalists at the GENIUS Olympiad, whose talent, perseverance, and hard work earned international recognition. 🇺🇦

Kudos as well to Daria Perekopska of Dnipro, who recently made history as the first Ukrainian ever to become the overall winner of the European Girls’ Olympiad in Informatics (EGOI), outperforming 248 participants from 67 countries.

These young Ukrainians are proving that even in the face of war, excellence, determination, and innovation continue to thrive.

On the last Sunday of May, Kyiv celebrates its birthday—traditionally marking 482 AD as the year of the city's founding.

Today, we wish a happy 1,544th birthday to Ukraine's vibrant capital: a city of extraordinary history, creativity, resilience, and life.

To discover the Kyiv of today and fall in love with its people, neighborhoods, and spirit, watch Kyiv of Mine, filmmaker Ronnie Apteker's documentary series exploring the city through the eyes of those who know it best. With new episodes on the way, it's a beautiful invitation to experience the heart of modern Kyiv.

Each stitch tells a story. Vyshyvanka Day is a global celebration of Ukrainian culture and identity centered around the traditional embroidered shirt known as the vyshyvanka. The Institute was proud to welcome so many beautiful vyshyvanky into our historic home this year—here are a few of our favorites!
